Warren - I wasn't doubting you m8 - just saying it's a very good power output at those boost pressures.. However, knowing whats in your car, it's not an impossible figure - just a good one.. If that makes sense smile.gif

Oh and the Dyno guy is right about flywheel figures not being as high as people often quote.. Finally a Dyno operator who admits it - I like him already wink.gif

Oh and on the barometric pressures bit, everything should be 'adjusted' to SAE pressures.. Of course if they either guess or incorrectly measure ambient temp & pressure, it's not exactly gonna end up at SAE figures smile.gif

Good link that mate, I liked the engine rebuild bit best...fook me...Nelson didn't mess about with putting that lump together! wink.gif

Forged everything from the factory etc. Good effort! Interesting reading about the arse manifolds though! Hmmmm, might have to get them honed as the article suggests. Will speak to Pete about that on Friday...can't wait! wink.gif

Yep, you're right, could've had that done and it wouldn't of cost an arm and a leg! Bummer!

now on a real serious note is seriously disproves what Many peopel say about rebuilding the works because the negine block is weak the head is weak blah blah for anything above 450bhp. it is interesting reading that. I actually spoke to the guy who writes for the magazine.

He can be found wondering ttnet

Well, that's not technically true matey. Pete told me that my bottom end, same as on all Z's is pretty strong and bullet proof. He didn't say to me at any point that the heads are weak etc. He only pointed out on my heads where some overheating had taken place prior, that the peeps who had rebuilt the top end previously hadn't taken this into account when sending the heads off to be skimmed. So never really correcting the problem of the "bowing" in the centre area of the heads.

It was Nelson Mandela that told me my entire engine was Phuket, NOT SE!

Timski on no account listen to nelson when your Z goes tits up! They don't have a clue eek.gif

ok timmy that was not fair to mention them (muwhahahaha) but i did change it just for you.

The thing is it bugs me when companies say (ie)that you need to put a new crank in (ffks this is the very crank that Nissan used to come 4th in a 300zxtt at lemans)because it wont hold, or the rods will bend, when honestly how many zeds make huge power in england (apart from mine biggrin.gif) To often we get caught by bullshit.

Getting back on topic, i think i could get some more horses out my car when i gut my cats this week, what do you guys think?

I think Andy (greek-style-name that I can never remember) 600zx had Carillo rods on his, but he spent tons of money on stuff that was in my opinion change for change sake.

Warren, do you still have a pre-cat on yours ? If you gut the main cats that will leave a sort of expansion chamber part-way down the exhaust. Don't you think it would be more effective to replace them with de-cat pipes and maintain a constant diameter all the way down ? (Unless of course you want it to look like it's got cats for the MOT - but there again yours is an import and doesn't need 'em). Also, you could save the cats for later should you, or anyone else need them, and the de-cat pipes have a half arsed silencer in place of the cats, that should help take some of the crackle out.

I may be wrong but I thought it was only USA zeds that had precats, I have never seen a jap Z with any. I didnt bother gutting mine,I just had them cut out and a straight bit of pipe welded in .

Paul

i might just cut them and replace them to be honest.

My 92 UK Z had the pre-cats, thought they came in in 92, might be just uk only for that year.

Warren you've gotta get rid of those cats, but wotch out for loss in backpressure causing turbo oil seal failure but I suspect you already know that. Sounds like your car's gonna be really feisty.

Did you get uprated pistons to go with your T28's and injector upgrades? Have you got modded IC's? How many miles have you done on your fixed engine? How much a can you get T28's?

Sorry for all the questions, just wondering as I am having mine done and theres still time to play with the spec.
