Welcome!

Yes, all Normally Aspirated 300's are import. UK-spec Zed are all Twin Turbos.

There is a mixed view on what the advantages and disadvantages are of owning an import but a few the facts are that (1) imports attract a higher insurance premium and not all insurance companies will want to accept them, (2) they generally tend to be lower mileage cars and (3) they tend to have little or no service history and if they do it'll be in Japanese. Everything else is subject to the purchaser's believes.

N/A's are very good cars indeed and tend to be less prone to expensive repairs than the TT's but then again, if you buy a lemon you get what you pay for. So, don't buy the first one you see, I'm sure somebody from this forum who has experience with the cars would be happy to come along and look at one with you and don't pay over the odds at dealers. Best bet is to look at the cars in the for-sale section on this forum. Most of these have been well looked after and come with a bit of traceable history.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask any questions on here but have a look at the FAQ and buyers guide first ;)

Cheers,

Dan

thank you very much for the very welcoming quick and friendly reply! Im not a stranger to forums & i know that buying from an enthusiast has much geater advantages than a 'down the road private sale'........i wil;l keep my eyes peeled!

Im thinking spring time....damn i cant wait to drive one!

ive only ever seen one 300zx too! Not much like that around here see!

thanx

steve

Hi there mate

I have an N/A, Short Wheel Base, Manual and use it as my daily driver. Although it has no turbos it's still a pretty quick car, starts and runs well (touches a piece of wood) and returns an average of 23mpg. It took me several months to find the right car but the wait was worth it.

The 300zx forum is an excellent site with its fair share of "characters" and is an invaluable source of information, help and spare parts. If you do get a Zed you won't be disappointed.

Happy hunting

Apache aka Phil

welcome.

The 300zx TT and NA are in the same Insurance Group, so I dont think you will find any savings in Insurance...except perhaps at specialist insurance companies who are willing to discount the premium for the NA.

welcome.

This is true - especially as some insurance companies still load the premiums for imports. You may find a UK spec TT costs the same, if not less, to insure than a J-spec N/A.......

take your time and find a good one, whichever model you chose and it should prove reliable. I used my UK spec TT every day - 50 miles per day - until I bought a 4x4 for winter recently, and it was always reliable.

Good hunting - plenty of nice ones for sale here at present...... ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

jusus chrsit i like that!!!!!

yes parkers online told me that they were both group 18....

Norwich Union says 'YES' to import n/a and 'PLEASE RING US FOR FURTHER DETAILS' on a TT!!!!....ring em & some foreigner tells me Im not old enough lol!

my ins is crazy cheap at the mo considering my age (driving for 2yrs 2mnths) but understandably they wont touch me on any group 16+

it like the import z n/a has slipped through the net???

23mpg, damn thats good cos im not doing much better in my present car!(180bhp)

what is the bhp & 0-60 on a n/a then?over 200 i bet???

chers guys (now going to dream)!

I think the N/A is 220 bhp. cant remember 0-60 - around 7 seconds I think.

I would ring around other insuranace companies. A lot of the mainstream insurers are'nt really geared up for young drives with High performance cars.

Do a search on here insurance, and check out some of those recomended.

Hey SG KIng..are you interested in a straight swap for your Mondeo. I need a bigger car and need to get rid of my H Reg import Black/leather/60K service done/NA/ J/Spec. 46000m lots done and a few things still to do. Family and work commitments pressing. Call me on 01254 763334 but not tonight as I've got a gig.

My FC insurance is £442pa, park on the street, but I'm old!!!!

Maybe cash either way?
