I need some insurance companies I can contact for quotes.

The company who I got a quote with a while ago ready for when the car was ready, said they cant find my quote and not wont insure me now. So I need alternatives.

I'm with Express insurance Group they are not bad, but if they quote you tell them that you have had a better offer (try to keep it as realistic as you can) and they will match it. :D

Carole Nash underwritten by Chaucer (classic policy)

How much you paying mate?

I think Chaucer was the company who underwritten the company I was going to be with. But I will give them a try.

The best way to do this is go to http://www.peopleschoice.co.uk and their quotes are really quite good.

Then go to http://www.expressinsurance.co.uk and get their quote. Then phone them up once you have got your quotation ref and tell them that you have been quoted cheaper elsewhere.

I saved over £450.00 quid doing this (my god i sound like an advertisement  ) i know its long winded but worth it in the end. :D

How did you get yours on a classic policy? I looked at their site and it says they only do classics for 1983 and older.

with Club Norwich Union....import stock tt...probably only through a broker and in my case was a second car first car also with Norwich Union Direct advantage was they allowed my full no claims on both motors...cool...:)

my jag ive just sold was through houghtons m8 and as a few have mentioned

underwitten by chaucer, and it was a 1987 and classic policy

and my zx is also though them on a separate policy, classic (so restricted milage)

my wifes car is also through them, and half what she was paying before

so did i mention HOUGHTONS lol

edit---

having just read your other post, i see houghtons is not for you:(

I'm with Bell Direct 0870 5492000

£790 for a year's comp, 10,000 mile limit, standard car valued at £11K, I'm 30, full NCB, no points.

I called about 10 insurance brokers and plenty wanted £1500+++

Carole Nash here too, down as a classic (6000k p/a) with bodywork and wheels all declared. Roughly about 400 quids fully comp.

Barry.

Haughtons underwritten by Chaucer I believe

Will be in a week or so, but at the mo Adrian Flux!

I find it quite bizzare that Haughtons gave you a quote Stuart and then turned round and said 'Er No we have lost the quote and won't insure you now'

Why???

Houghtons gave me the best quote on a classic policy, but I wanted a policy that used my NCB and I also wanted one that allowed me to drive the car to and from work (Houghton's didn't, even if I stayed within the mileage limit!)

So, I reinsured with AON through the Insurance Factory.

Lifesure. Don't think they insure young'uns though. Can't remember the underwriter right now.

I got my only acceptable quote from Greenlight Insurance, after Houghtons (even with club discount) and Flux, and many, many others were too expensive for me (2 small claims in 5 years, only 1 year no claims, 10k mile limit).

im with houghtons thru chaucer, but my milage may need to go up as i cant see me keeping to 7500 miles per year. was very impressed with the admin side of houghtons though, but the price was good.
