Just (maybe!) about to get some Toyo Proxes T1-s for the rear. Anyone had experience of these? (About £105 each (255 40 17))

Featured Replies

Yes i have them not bad quite hard rubber so they seem to last quite weel but there is a new T1-R out which is supposed to be quieter etc.

Yes Chris, I've got these on all round, had them since about April, I think.

Good tyre, as far as I can tell so far. Aesthetically, they look very good aswell :D

Completely concur with Dave above - have had mine on (all round) for well over a year now and am v. pleased with both traction, durability and noise levels.

I will never buy any other make of tyre for my Z - is that a good enough recommendation? :D

I'm confused, how does a set of tyres last over a year??????

Drive it like you stole it!!!

another option, and my way theyre a couple of quid cheaper but ive got bridgestone potenza so-3's on the front and am about to get them for the rear to get rid of my crappy avons. but they excellent in the wet and dry and seem to be wearing very well. and i think they were rated top tyre by pretty much every mag, but saying that toyos were second. personal choice i guess

ask chunk how much tread is left on my 5 month old S03 tyres...NOWT

Front or rear? Time to check the tracking! I did a set of Proxes (265/35ZR18  ) in less than 2k miles :(

Ok, do you still have the tyres? You can tell if the tracking is out by running your hand across the tread of the tyre. If you can feel the tread blocks 'ridging' up then the rear toe is set incorrectly. This is SO common on these cars due to the weakness of the rear track arms - slightest knock and they need resetting. The manual says 0-4mm difference between the measurement at the front of the wheel opposed to the back of the wheel (distance measured between the two wheels, at the centre line). Difficult to describe but I'll bet thats your cause ;)

I had the proxies, thought they were pretty good, then bought a set of fuldas after that and thought they were much better, alot less wheel spin on launch, then on my new truck vie got brigestone potenzas andd i think these are the *****cks. then again 4wd my be affecting my judgement.

I have a complete set of Fulda's on mine (came with the car) and I'm not impressed.

Will use them up as quick as possible and replace them with some sticky rubber - Yokahama AVS or A539 or Eagle F1's have always been good to me.

falken - not the crap ones - the dogs ones

Unbeatable - proxis will let you down if your into wet street racing lol
