Ok seen a few posts on this but thought id ask as it wasnt conclusive:

Want to get my motor so the water runs off a bit more..i buff it sooo well with that colour magic, but is there anything that when it rains the water runs off the body, a bit like the stuff u can buy for windows? my car ALWAYS seems to keep the water drops on it even when everyone else in the street is dry its not fair!

1. What is good for the paintwork? (Wash and/or polish combos)

2. What is good stuff for the windows like this? (Rainex is it?)

I currently use turtle wax wash, then color magic black (the car is black :) )

I've never been impressed with Turtle wax products.

I'd recomend Autoglym (quality range) products and Zymol (expensive and very good).

Zymol polish gives a good shine and smells like amazing but left white poweder all over my car, especially on the chip proof paint at the bottom.

Hi mate, try Demon Shine you can get it at halfords.I got some and its good gear.

bubbles

I used to be an Autoglym faithful, but now it pails in comparison to the current Meguiars range.

You pay a bit more for it but, my god, it's worth it.

On a sunny day, a black Z polished with their Gold Class paste wax looks the absolute bo**ocks :D.

Also offers very high levels of protection, and water runs off well (better than Autoglym I think).

been valeting cars for a while now and swear by autosmart stuff there are about 5 different body polishes depending on what you want but i mainly use new image its really a pdi polish but adss wicked shine very easy to use no dust at all and easily comes off rubbers also Ali shine for wheels glass clear for glass and apple air fresh for inside mmmm nice there range of products is huge and very good prices. why pay 14 quid for 1 ltr of super resin from halfords etc when you can get 5 ltrs of new image for 18 quid inc vat ??? all there gear wipes the floor with autoglym hands down....

 Me to

anyone ever heard of these dry cleaning products? Or that new laser cleaning thing thats come from the states?

not sure about dry cleaning, my suit never feels as clean after its been done :)

Im in complete agreement with Peach!

Every time I go to Halfords I buy something ... my garage is littered with cleaning stuff (and wallet is empty!)

As I have hard water where I live, it leaves marks all over the car and Turtle Wax 'Wax it Wet' is the best thing to get rid of them.

Agreed, I use Autoglym on everything on the car including the leather interior.

It's great :)

try using autoglym gloss, its basically a spirit and water doesnt stick well to it.

I've always been an autoglym whore, but i'm going to switch to meguirs soon. It usually takes me about 8 hours to clean my car lol, its all about elbow greases and doing it properly :D.

Same here - Autoglym Hi Gloss gives a great finish and as Mike says it's all about Elbow Grease. Strangely enough I find cleaning the cars rather therapeutic and relaxing and I usually find some of the kids pocket money down the back of the seats

Cleaning cars? I hate it LOL Its all about POWER ;):D:rofl:

Well.. I bought some autoglym Resin polish stuff....ive only ever used turtle wax and color magic before...

oh my...

wont be using turtle wax any more :)

Zymol Zymol Zymol ... I don't mean the cheap crap from Harry's I mean the really nice wax. It DOESN'T leave any residue and it cost about £50.00 for a small pot of wax. You get what you pay for .. FACT

£50 quid?

It must be good!

My blue Zymol polish (from halfords!) was about £8. but it does leave white powdery stuff everywhere.

Its funny reading different views on polish but alot of it boils down to how good your paint job is to start with and how youve look after it in the past.

My car was painted by the Zed center and the finish was perfect and really wot ever polish i use, it has an amazing shine(see sig)

Be carefull using Colourmagic coz it has an abrasive in it like Tcut

Personally i use Turtle wax products for ease of use, and because they are buy one get one free in harrys every summer! ;)

The after wax sealant can be polished off after a couple of mins (Autoglym 30 mins i think?)+ there tyre shine is the best ive tried and longest lasting :)

No matter what anyone says u cant beat elbow grease (your own)

here is the order of proceedings

HOSE CAR OFF WELL TO REMOVE ALL DIRT AND DUST PARTICALS

CLEAN WITH NEW SPONGE AND ANY CAR SHAMPOO

RINSE OFF AND DRY WITH A REAL CHAMMY (THIS IS THE CRUCIAL BIT)

PUT NEAT WASHING UP LIQIUD ON A DAMP CLOTH AND WIPE OF WIPERS (this works better than any screen cleaner)

TO FINISH APPLY AUTOGLYM HIGH GLOSS RESIN POLISH AS PER INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOTTLE(IN A WARM GARAGE IF POSS)
