Thanks Andy, I will do the search in a bit.

Those arnt really instructions, more of a guideline TBH......

Do I really have to remove the engine too?? Its step by step instructions for a novice mechanic that I am looking for.

Maybe JeffTT could do some, he's done plenty I am sure.

No, you don't need to remove the engine.

Shaunmac has done one too.

BTW - when they say it 'can be difficult' to remove the auto pilot bushing, what they really mean is..

It's a complete f*cking ballache! ;)

Ask Andy (Duff) and me how we know

Easier if you can heat the crank up and use a pilot bushing removal tool I'm sure, but without one.. jeez, what a nightmare that was.

LOL you gave up but perseveirance paid off in the end ;) There's actually a puller tool you can buy to make the whole job easier, I'll try and find a link ;)

what kind of money is it for someone to do this from start to finish (parts and labour)??

I have an auto and would love 2 have it converted to manual!!

much more fun!!

apologies in advance if I start the manual v's auto debate ;)

Never had a problem with them :D used a slide hammer on the last one worked a treat! or the other way is to find something that fits the hole nicely then fill with grease and then tap the thing in the hole, it will just pop out

LOL tried everything but the slide hammer. That thing was JAMMED big style - that just pissed me off even more so it had to come out in even smaller pieces ;) LMFAO

The auto pilot bushing is in the end of the crankshaft - the gearbox input shaft runs inside it basically. That needs to come out and be replaced with a pilot bushing for a manual box :)
