???questions questions questions about boost gauges

ive had mig tips fitted, Ive read a few threads about the subject and posts but they talk in 1.2 and 1mm, I was issued with a jwt chip (in which I feel a little suspicious about more of this l8r) three tips were issued 0.6, 0.8, & 1.0. The fella thought it be best to fit the middle one....are the 1.0 tips mean 1mm.. will this give me more boost then the 0.8 or less, at the moment my car runs well and is well quick although Im bored and want more speed!!!

Also a quick ? about this chip I was wairy about fitting it, It came with a photo copy of the original instructions from jwt but the chip never had JWT on it just a code number??? is this normal????

Also how do I stop my speedo from cutting out at 140mph????

how much boost are you running with the current tips? You'll need an after market gauge to tel for sure, and definately before you start experimenting with boost levels.

I cant tell coz the needle go's straight to the end of the gauge, its not in psi so Im not sure??? all I know is that there no detonation and it runs well.

Sounds like the chip you have is a copy of a JWT chip, not an original. When you say your speedo cuts out at 140, do you mean your speedo or do you stop accelerating?

As jaffa said, you need to be sure what your running before you start messing about, also have a conzult run on your car. As a suggestion I would start with the least restrictive (1.0) and see how the car runs, then if it's still ok think about the 0.8, most people stick with 1.0 as it is considered to be a sensible level to run at without modifying anything. See the FAQ section for mor details :)

it already has a 0.8 tip inserted. and if the chip is a copy does this mean that it will damage my car?? how do I know its working and its not just the welding tips???????/
