ok here goes

done a diagnostic check (easy way with piece of wire )

got code 34 (detonation sensor )

read through some threads about this (no wiser )

basically could be anything from electrical contacts to plugs, maybe just sensor fault.

can anyone help me prefrably with quick idiot proof ideas ???

Featured Replies

Yes, code 34 is the DET sensor. (was this from Conzult or ECU diag?) a reset might sort it??

Your option is to check connection or replace so I understand.

Having read loads of posts on this site it would seem that the common thing is the connector so it would be wise to check this first and clean it up.

I havent had this prob myself so only speak from what I have read .

Hope you get it sorted.

Pat

The det sensor is at the back of the engine, so pretty

much impossible to clean it up. Could well be that it is

gacked up. Here is a link to bypass the det sensor

http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonationSensor/detonationSensor.html

However...if you do this, you will loose the sensor altogether,

meaning that if it ever does det for real, it will not go into

safety boost! The choice is yours, although as said before...

just resetting the ecu/disconnecting the battery may cure it.

clean the plug to it under the bonnet it cured my code 34
