I'm new to air tools and I've just bought an air ratchet wrench from B&Q. However, either I'm using it wrong or it's knackered.

With the compressor set to the correct pressure, I can quite easily grap the socket and stop it turning. When I do this, you can hear air rushing out of the bottom of the wrench.

Am I doing something wrong or is it bust?

Mike cheap air tools do this because they are struggling with the torque you are putting through them , best air tools I have found are SIPS , even with these on an air ratchet if the torque is too much the air as you say rushes out of the bottom of the wrench does not happen often though as they are a sturdy bit of kit

It's a Rockworth one if that's any help. But the torque I'm talking about is just grabbing hold of the turning part with my hand. It struggles to even drive a screw in!

take it back mate it should be able to cope with a little more than that

Try upping the pressure, sounds like your compressor is not man enough ti run it to me. Even the snap on ones I use do this if the air pressure is not enough.

It's rated at 6 bar so that's what I'm running it at. I've also tried higher with no luck.
