Water Leak

Hello,

I have recently found a water leak on the front driver side of my 90tt auto, has any body else found this problem. Have not had her up on ramps yet to investigate. Does any one know if the hoses are specially molded or can I use off the shelf hoses from Halfords/Motor World. And what size are they? Also she seemed to run better from cold than usual splutter. Any info would be appreciated.

If its front drivers side its probably the top rad pipe leaking at the bottom and dripping down the rad, if you take this off be careful as the plastic tube on it gets very brittle and will fall apart in your hand.

If its just the hose, nissan will screw you £40 for one, you can buy a smithy hard pipe set for that. You cant put any old hose on as its contoured too.

If the plastic has crumbled beyond repair you may need to consider a new rad, a koyo or similar will set you back about £300 to £400 but they have meatal pipes on them so wont ever suffer the same fate.

Good luck hope its a cheap fix.

Thanks for that b19rks, now you come to mention it I heard a slight hissing sound from that side at the top of the rad. I thought I had left the bleed valve loose, when I screwed it down it still made the noise will check it out later. Cheers matey

sorry m8

I was talking about orginal nissan replacement parts

I was saying you dont have to get them from nissan dealers ;)

also nissan dealers are puddins half the time and supply the wrong ones

though a hard pipe kit seems to be the more reliable option

I think the top rad kit is cheaper than that from Smithy. But you may as well get the bottom kit as well.

Fitted mine and I am well pleased with it. The bottom hose can kink quite easily and restrict flow so stainless is the way to go.
