Kent meet today. An idea ?

Thanks everyone who made to kent today

At last the sun stayed out for us.

Theres one thing bothering me..

our current place to meet .The RedBull pub.

we you may of notice we were met with i frosty landlord today. me and han being asked to move to a different part of the pub on arriving Even Though we had Booked a table for Lunch!.

We were pushed into a small corner of the pub for the restr of the meet, as we all were,

Then to be naged at as well..

As I new it this meet is an informal sunday drink ,to chat etc about our cars . and meet other 300zx friends . And it seems to work ok.

So after today can i make a suggestion.

What if we have a monthly or by-monthly meet but have it in different pubs around the south-east. that way each time its close to home for someone each time we get together. and we get so see diferent places etc.

WE were clearly not wanted at the red bull this month , under our present format.

Please reply with a ya or na to the idea..

And who has a good place to meet next month..

Dazz.......

Agreed, couldnt make RedBull this time but if anyone could suggest a meet anywhere along the A3 corridor, or Brighton, Bournemouth etc, lets do it!!

:)

Dazz, Sorry to hear about your hassles to day I guess thats why you left early??

A few people turned up after you left & wondered where you were..

As far as meets go we don't mind where we go so different places is a good idea.

PS First meet in the sun & we stayed inside!!!

Great.

It will keep things interesting as well.

if you have a good site over your way ,

then lets have it there next month.

Dazz...

Darren,

Excellent idea, was a bit cramped in the corner wasn't it? lol

And just who was going to minute the meeting? I can really see us all round a big table talking about all things Z - NOT!

Keep it informal and move it around the SE, use the forum to let people know where, how many attendees don't have Int. access?

Just remember the landlord has all your contact details. lol

Feel guilty about leaving early now, I'll hang around next time.

Looking forward to a new venue next month.

See you then guyz.

Tim

In deference to those not in the South East, it maybe worth moving it all over the country-side if on a bi-monthly event, so that everyone gets a chance to meet up.

Just my .02p

Couldn't make it this time. Moving it around sounds like a good idea.

Hmmm - this is getting to be a bit of a sore point....

Why??? Why does it have to be in the furthest corner of GB??? I certainly don't mind travelling a bit but FFS why does everything revolve around the south? There is life up north you know and believe it or not we even have electricity and gas now!!! I don't work in a coal mine either and do have a wash every day so I don't smell..... I don't want to spoil the fun for everyone else but feel I am being left out - and why? cos I live up north!!!! Yesterday, I met warren at Santa Pod for a day of running up the drag strip. I drove about 165 miles and warren drove about 80. I couldn't change the venue of santa pod - thats just a silly idea biggrin.gif but it does show I am prepared to drive a certain distance. BUT there is no fuckin chance that I'm gonna drive 300 miles so that other people can fall out of bed straight to the nearest Zed meet.

I suppose what REALLY PISSES ME OFF about this is that if anybody remembers back in september there was meant to be a meet in Blackpool..... All the answers were yes yes yes love to... then I had to cancel the whole fuckin thing because it would have been three of us sat round a table in the corner!!!! If no-one can make the effort to come to a meet up north once every blue moon then maybe I will change my views on going to meets down south.

I am not trying to upset anyone here but you have to see it from our point. There is life north of the watford gap and this forum is getting worse than the british government for recognising even the word North!!!

Lets be fair guys - either half way or PROPERLY around the coutry eh? AND that doesn't mean that those from down south only go to the southern meets and the northern guys all act like sheep and go to all of them.

If I think of anything else I want to whinge about I'll let you know :d

Yes but do you have running water that's not in a stream?? biggrin.gif

And my excuse for not going to BP was a good one - I was on a beach in Tenerife!

Suggest some good venues and maybe we can all trek oop norf en masse for the next meet. Kay? smile.gif

Lighten up guyz. We're heading for another row and nobody wants that.

The long and short of it is that the meeting at the Red Bull was not an exclusive 300zx.co.uk meeting, it was not arranged by Craig or anyone representing the forum, WTF does it matter if some members of the forum meet up south of Watford once a month?

There's been postings on this group about how some guys met up on a weekend for a BBQ, and a good pi$$ up, should I feel hacked off 'cause I wasn't invited and it wasn't equadistant from everyone on the group?

Location of meetings will always be a problem, yes it would be good if we could all meet centrally once a month but I for one wouldn't drive 300mls (round trip) to sit in a pub. It ain't gonna happen. A couple of 'big' meetings a year I'm sure would attract interest.

Andy, how many other Zs are there around you neck of the woods? There were 5 Zs in the car park yesterday so you can see it's not a huge meeting.

If its gonna cause grief why don't we all sit in front of our computers and come out once a year at Billing, there, everyone's happy biggrin.gif lol

Tim

i got no real problem with travelling to a meet, and the watford thing was a joke andy, but i'm sure you know that biggrin.gif

although, that is a fair point.

my only problem is, 9/10 times i will have my kids with me, and although they will travel for an hour in the back to go to a pub, they dont really like spending 3 hours in the car to go to a pub meet.

if wherever we meet has some other things to do, like Billing had etc., then it makes it easier for me to convince rest of the family to come along, and makes it fairer on them too

hence my "middle of the country" pointer

coming alone isnt always an option either, especially if my other half is working and i have the kids...

or i have already spent a few weekends doing 300 related things...

i'm sure some of you can relate wink.gif

Andy,

Well why don't you guys up north arrange a get together, (there seems to be loads of you there), then invite everyone else - that's all that happened here. Don't think anyone was expecting people to travel 100's of miles. Make it if you can, if not too bad, never mind.

5 ? man that is a big meet by our standards biggrin.gif

I agree about meeting in different places.

I personally wont bother comming down to those meets, cause my idea certainly is not to sit in a pub, get ripped off with the food and not talk to anyone. (im not trying to upset anyone) its just well if you want to go to a pub then go to a pub, but if you want to have a car meet then lets have a car meet.

Over the past week this forum has demonstrated one thing to me - text is a crap way of comunicating.

Craig - remember your post being misunderstood? wink.gif

The point I was making is that EVERY meet is down south. Yes I could (and have) organise meets just for us up north etc etc etc but that isn't the point is it??? If we're gonna do that then lets have seperate forums for north and south too wink.gif EVERY zed meet I've been to has been further than the end of the M6 and that is 140 miles from my house... Put that in perspective!!! wink.gif I probably did more miles to the Milton Keynes meet in April than anyone else has done ALL year going to ALL the meets!!!!

Don't get me wrong - I was saying don't make EVERY meet down south - not that you must meet up north wink.gif

CheerZ,

Andy

I've got no problem travelling where-ever to get to a meet. I tend to drive the length and breadth of this country at least once a month anyway smile.gif

Only problem at the moment is that practically every weekend is fully booked until somewhen next year, so free time is jealously guarded. Just need lots of notice if a meet is going to take place. biggrin.gif

Unlike Craig's bbq, where he asked me at about 3?ish Friday afternoon for the following day....! But it was fun, right up until the point where SOMEone tried to get my Zed into a banana shape, courtesy of the suggestion of SOMEone else....mentioning no names.........Warren... biggrin.gif

As darren is away all week he has asked me to ask were to have the next meet, with out any rows does anybody no of any good places were we can have the november meet..

Somewere for the whole family..

thanks

I know its very much in the South and I apologise to all our Northern Alliance, but does anyone fancy the next meet to be in the village of Beulieu, then onto the motor museum.

Would be a great day out, and yup, I got three kids to think about so something for the kids to do would be great too!!!

Just an idea smile.gif

:)

Don't want to be a downer but I went to Beaulieu recently and was rather disappointed. I felt it was also bloody expensive for what you get. I mean about £10 each to get in ! If you wanna see cars then go (a little further afield) to the Haynes museum, which I think is at Yeovil in Somerset - now there is a car collection.

Yeah but Andy mate,

I went on my own (managed to get lost on the way out of Southampton) and I was just plodding around when I happened upon Ayrton Sennas Mclaren MP4 and.. well you know how it is, even tho the car was roped off I just had to jump in and get a passer by to take my photo.... sad I know, but the man's soul is in that race car and /gets emotional/ hell I swear I felt it.

I guess if you feel the way I do about Ayrton then the £10 entrace fee doesn't come into it.

Peace

Just for the Northerns and me,

Lets have a Milton Keynes meet it's been sometime now

i really think we should do something else in the way of a meet. This pub thing to me (im not having a go or anything but..) is stupid. We all go to what is supposed to be a car meet. Look at cars for two minutes (while not knowing whos car your looking at, while at the same time the owner is thikning "hmmm does he want to steal my car" )Then its into the pub to drink, we cant get a large table so everyone buggers of to there own side, and we do nothing.

Personally, if it is at another pub, i wont bother, cause if i wanted to go drinking i coudl do that around the corner.
