There is very little detail there.

Steam/smoke from the bonnet is never usually a good sign. But it could be burning oil which was split after an oil change.

As for water dripping from under the car. Where about from under the car. Front, back middle, to one side? Had it been raining? Is it losing water? Is the water a particular colour? Does it feel like it has coolent in the water?

water dripping from under the car could be the air conditioning, it takes moisture out the air and vents it through a small pipe under the car, confuses a lot of people. Other wise, as SRAE says, sould be a small coolant leak, dip your finger in and smell the fluid, if it is clean water, I would think air con

it could be coolant leaking.... usually only when you stop as the heat soaks up when you stop the engine and blows out some pinhole or crack in a pipe

Hi everyone , just picked up my 300zx tt manual last night and love it . Only a couple of things.

When i stopped after driving home about 50 miles , There seemed to be a small bit of steam / smoke coming from under the bonnet , after a min or two it goes. what could this be ?? is this common??

Also there was a small bit of water dripping from under the car. cant see any major probs but apart from these the car is mint.

The smoke / steam is more like condensation not actual oil smoke. It is slightly wet above the passenger side light so think there is a bit of either water leak or maybe either this common fault with the rad cap and steam is getting out causing it. Def no oil leaks at all and water is normal colour. Car water temp is not moving and stays low.

Where could i take it near me that knows about 300zx's?? just to get the car checked out, but isnt gonna rip me off !!! as the steam when i stop is gonna get annoying . im in surrey any ideas???

Not used this chap myself but look here:

What was you doing at the time? The radiator has an over flow tank, and if that gets too full that then pours out.

If it is already high, turning a corner sharply can cause the water to tip out a little.

If you wanna hand looking at your car mate, bring it over to me I live down the road in putney, my inexpert eye might give you some pointers!

Hi Topless please can you email your number to kgs@psaparts.co.uk so i can call and you could have a look 4 me . well appreciated!!!!! , Car was half on half off curb at time of leaking. is the radiator too full then????????????

PMSL :)

I thought the same Stu. Thought I was going a bit loopy TBH, but then it is a Friday!.

I've got exactly that happening to my Z.

What it is on mine is a hose that sits under the upper plenum that supplies the throttle bodies has split. When it first started I could drive the car fine and then stop turn car off and the heat soak would raise the pressure enough to produce a small leak that would run to the back of the engine and drip on the hot turbo. this would make a small amount of steam for a couple of minutes and produce a small coolant puddle under engine.

Obviosly the split has got worse and I'm going to have to bypass the water feed to the upper plenum. (easier than plenum removal)

Hope this is of some help

cheers

Yeah this page is completely fVcked up! Thought I was going mad for a second too! lol
