Following my recent thread on being pulled for dangerous driving I got a letter from the police.

They reasoned that they had enough evidence for driving without due care (which is not as bad as Dangerous driving) but have offered me the chance to attend a National Driver improvement scheme instead of going to court.

Let me see: Day in court, possible ban and probable heavy fine against £175 for above course.......can I ask the audience?

Had a silly moment where I thought about writing back with the argument that if , as alleged, I was driving at twice the speed limit on a road with three dangerous bends (two decreasing radius and one seriously off camber) surely that shows that I was paying lots of attention. But Mrs Jock giving me a right hander brought me back to reality :mac1:

Have fun on your exciting and informative course! Im sure if wont be several hours of you being patronised like some kid who doesnt know the first thing about driving! :D

I wonder if you get a badge or a t-shirt to say you have done the course??

Do the course Hugh. Will this lower your insurance by any chance (if you pass.... :tongue: )

Worth asking the question to see if you can get another benefit from it.

Thought about the insurance issue, depends on whether they figure out I did it instead of a ban. Cant think that'd help :)

Not sure how it is in England, but up in Scotland, coz you have (or will) voluntarily applied for the course, it is not a formal charge so it is not an offence. Hence there is no points or any need to inform your insurance !!

Eehh, you gotta pass the course tho. ;)

Also there is no tea, coffee, biscuits, T shirts or awards.

Only a wee serious man who keeps telling you how naughty you were !! :o

Its basically detention for the people who are, in the wee mans words;

Old enough to know better, and still too young to care !! :D

Alan.......
