excuse the title of this thread, im in a bazzar mood.

more weird noises have sprung from the zed. ther is a gargle/gasping noise coming from the passanger sidejust where the windscreen meets the bonnet, but its coming from inside the engine bay, if you get my drift. it sounds like a split pipe. ive also noticed that the oil pressure, even though its at a good pressure,is varying ever so slightly. i dont appear to be loosing any fluids of any sort

any ideas???

cheers

Did you sell your wheels? You could use some of the proceeds from that ;)

as you can see, ther up for sale. its pay day tommorrow so if pay pal will let me use my credit card, which it didnt last time then im there

Ok fair enough this is obviously a no win situation...

The problem is caused by the asbestos hamsters just after your turbos. These are used to control the exact amount of boost created by the turbos. After a while, their little asbestos coats get fully soaked with condensation in the exhaust and its the hamsters struggling to breath that you can here. You need a new hamster cannister unfortunately :(

hamster being a technical term? but it boosts fine! and its only on one side, surely both would go?

i just cant win with this zed.

in the middle of reading the twin turbo, net link, cheers si, and it sounds expensive and labour intensive

Well you'd think Nissan would have only used hamsters born as twins but unfortunately they just used them from different batches on each side. Sometimes not even from the same mother

HKS, Greddy, Blitz to name a few, do matched pairs but these come at a price :( Even pedigree ones are available for that extra 'bling' factor

Nick aiv's are a real easy job mate. just drill a small hole in the rubber pipe so the water doesnt build up again.

it sounds expensive and labour intensive....not at all nick.

remove the inner arch liner (next to door) drill small hole in

the 'u-bend' on the pipe, let water drain out.....job done.

edit.....doh! mrogers beat me to it!

FFS make sure you don't drill too far or the RSPCA will be having words :(

sweet. if the weather clears up i might have it done for tonight

cheers lads as usual your a big help.

andy, i will get round to subscribing, dont worry about that

No worries Nick ;) Just look after them hamsters :D

i was kinda sh!tting it for a moment, just about to get my boost controller fitted. last thing i need is for the turbo's to go pop

Don't forget also, if you de-cat there'll be nothing to keep the hamsters in check so you'll have to keep an eye on blue smoke caused by them getting blown too far back down the exhaust...

Hi guys..especially Nick.

I've got this problem as well,,but I've not been able to describe it as lucidly as you have done Nick.

Question for all. If you drill this water release hole in the pipe, do you need to replace the whole unit or will it all 'dry out' of it's own accord

Chris 'Gargleblaster' Davies

You need to get a hairdryer on your hamsters

Didn't know I had any problems until I started reading this forum but yep I get that noise from both sides.I thought it was just the sound of contented turbos cooling down after a hard slog racing Skylines! Does this problem affect anything other than my peace of mind?

So guys...once you drill the hole in the pipe is that the end of it? Will the water run away?
