Hi I am going to replace my spark plugs and am going for the PFR6B-11B. I can get them from courtesy just wondered if any traders sell these. Also can anyone tell me if there is a gasket that needs to be replaced when removing the balance bar?

I think Chris@GetGreddy had some plugs for sale, regarding gaskets the balance bar sits on 3 rubber O rings.

Chris@GetGreddy does sell these, I purchased my last set from him, cracking price too

Ok, will ask chris about plugs. Was wondering if it was common practice to change the O rings on balance bar.

Apologies if you know this to be true but why do we do it to the rubber seal on the oil filter then??

There are different types of rubber on cars!

Water hose is made to withstand heat.

Fuel Hose is made to withstand excessive internal pressure.

Oil Hose is made to withstand the usual corrosive effects of oil on rubber.

The balance bar rubber could be made of the latter, but there is little point in taking the risk if you don't have to.

me thinks someone is being stalked

In response to the point of oil and rubber, its true, I currently work in the manufacture of CV boots and Steering racks the compound they are made of is very different than say a window seal, cv boots for instance cannot contain too much natural rubber because oil causes natural rubber to break down.

Dont know a great deal about o rings but I would have thought an o ring was designed to cope with heat and oil, shouldn't be saying this because I actually manufacture sachets of silicone grease for rubber lubrication and sealing because a lot of oil does cause rubber to swell and break down.

Dave does that mean you can get hold of special silicon grease, with which to rejuvenate our leaking window seals :D

or you could just go to your local dive shop and pick a tub of it up for pennies. Its use to lubricate the rubber hoses on BA sets

Oil and o-rings are fine together. You should always lube your (O) ring  with the system fluid, ie hydraulic fluid or oil. Its comman practice on aircraft so its gotto be fine on our fine cars!
