Guys

Lightened pulleys seem like a good idea so....

Should I get just the crank pulley or get the whole set ? Also will I need a new belt(s?) ? How much is a new belt(s?) ?

I met a guy at a meet not so long ago who said to avoid these as they don't have a damper as fitted by Nissan and therefore will damage the bottom end of the engine (bearings I presume).

Any thoughts or advice as always very much appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

Dampened one is better, but they are 5-6 times more expensive and not as light.

You dont need the whole set as its only the crank pulley which does anything.

Unorthadox racing pulleys are for sale at courtesyparts.com in Texas, the part numbers for the belts are good, the full kit or seperates can be supplied by american autobarn in peterborough 01322 553132 as a special order.

Smithy in the traders section can also sort you out with a SGP UD pulley. Very happy with mine

The crank and water pump pulleys fit a treat - but the power steering and alternator ones are different - as I found out! Courtesy did do the 'courteous' thing though, and refunded me the payment on them.

Don't worry about the damper / harmonic balancer business - you won't find anyone on any Z forum who's had a problem. If they have it because they didn't get the crank balanced after installing aftermarket pistons.

Si.

The vast majority of US cars are in fact the same as our Jap specs as regards the pulleys at least, they use a smaller waterpump pulley, hence different size belts.

Marky am ordering a few more SGP racing Underdrive pulley sets complete with belts end of this week mate, if you want to join in just let me know, just need to know jap or UK spec etc. Priced at £125 all in.

cheers

smithy

I also ordered the Unorthodox Underdrive Pulley Kit "Awesome mate" are the words for it. Smithy sourced 'em for me and they arrived in 7 days...
