Well over the last few months we are having more people selling parts and NOT getting paid than ever before on this forum.

You are going to have to be more vigilant before you let stuff go out; there are three cases of which I know about and one case of repeated cheque bouncing.

So for all those that are owed money after they have sent parts out how about we have a section where we stick their names up until funds are paid?

However it will be easy to keep control of this if you hang onto your parts until funds are cleared

If anyone selling parts just sets up a Paypal account this would make things a lot easier.

And if you don't have one then dont ship em out until the cheque has cleared ...

Chris, Smithy got turned over for a few hundred quid through Paypal:(

I see ... didn't think that could happen on Paypal .. Like you said Mac .. dont release the goods until everything has been cleared ...

I use Paypal and haven't had any probs so far .. Thank God ...

All the traders I have done business with .. Smithy being just one, have gone out of their way to be helpfull etc .. so I find it very dissapointing that they get ripped off.

As Mac says, PayPal has virtually zero protection for the seller - if the purchaser used fraudulent funds then PayPal will reclaim those back off the seller, in order to give them back to the rightful owner.

NoChex, however, does protect it's sellers - it's meant to be the safest way to take payment for items sold.

another thing ... I think that the traders in question (whoever they are) should attempt to contact the people who didn't pay up first before they are named and shamed .... quite rightly I think. There is nothing worse than being named and shamed for a silly mistake by the bank .. if you know what I mean ...

Happened to me once and wasn't my fault .. very annoyed.

Well .. people who use frudulant means to purchase items from this club should be banned .. period.

As a club I think we need to look out for eachother and looking at the poll it is looking that the members are wanting this.

It is a shame that we have to take measures to prevent getting ripped off with such a great club:(

Im ok, Barry D, smithy and mike feeney can vouch for that ;)

But I have sent a couple of cheques out and NOT got any goods (i may point out by none of the above people as they have all been very sound to me :D)

I dont think they should be named and shamed, I would just ban them from looking at the for sale and wanted forums.

I agree 100% ... I have dealings with a lot of members in the club and TBH if I hadn't found the club then sometimes I would be lost with the Zed. I am no expert, just an enthusiast.

We should take measures to protect the traders ... but what kind of measures?

Yea I have bought shitloads from traders .. but if people use fraudulent means to purchase goods then I don't wan't people like that in the club. Not a mistake by the credit card company or something. I mean ****ers trying to rip off honest traders .. **** em .... I don't wan't people like that in the club.

Ban them ... and good ridance.

of course they should be named and shamed, (after every effort has been made to sort it) if nothing else to stop others being ripped,

if i remember in Smithys case it wouldn't have made a difference, cos the twat used false info address etc :(

i got my clock from Scottywill this morning, and it's obvious he didn't wait until my cheque had cleared, and while that was great that he trusted me, i wouldn't have had any problem if he had waited.

as Mac says vigilance is the only way, and read past posts etc to get an idea of the guy, BUT that doesn't stop it the other way, ie you send cash and get zilch, ive seen loads of new users first post is selling something, deffo not somebody who would get my cash

maybe anyone who posts stuff to sell, then the buyer should reply received etc in that thread to give people a chance to read back posts, AND the seller to say cash etc received, rather than filling the forum up with loads of thank you's and keep it to one thread?

Not a bad idea-bit like feedback on e-bay!

three big meatheads and a 6-30 am call comes to mind here----come on guys iff you owe you owe, iff you,v had the stuff and wont pay fuk off to another forum or club, ide like to think that we zx,s are a honerst family here and not like a load of max-power saxo-nova dicks

Aaand I am old enough to remember a period where several forum guys were defrauded via Nochex so nothing is perfect.

Mac, I approve of listing forum screen names who either don't pay up or don't ship. If it is not already in Ts and Cs of the forum, I would have no objection for auto suspension if there is a reported problem and auto banning if there is a repeated proven problem.

But - unless the forum is very well-behaved - I can see this degenerating into a yah-boo-sucks yes-he-did-no-he-didn't scenario which would need strong moderation by (eg) Trader Liaison.

The best advice is that no-one should send anything unless payment has been received and cleared. And don't pay anyone unless you trust them to send you the goods.

Pay by credit card (not debit card or charge card) as the credit card company is jointly liable under the Consumer Credit Act.

"Normal" payments like cheques, credit cards et al have some measure of legal protection - internet payment methods are much more difficult and have much less protection. You must decide if the added convenience outweighs the trust you must give to organisations who are handling your payments...

Any chance of a system like on ebay where people give feedback when they buy or sell from other members and so each person has a rating?

I've got a feeling this was suggested before, possibly by me! ;)

I've sent out stuff without waiting for cheques to clear and people have done the same for me. We don't want to lose that trust because of a few dishonest people, so we need to know who the dishonest people are! :(

If someone rips me off, the worst thing I can do is keep it to myself and let someone else get ripped off too! :mac1: ;)

i operate client accounts for hundreds of people/third parties, i could consider accepting buyers funds by ACT into our client account or cash deposited at the post office then inform the seller to send the goods...when goods are recieved then forward payment to the seller by cheque or bacs into sellers account, if the goods wernt sent/arrived payment could be returned to the buyer no problem...simple and cheap @£1 all in for any amount of money handled...proofs or deposits and reciepts not a problem

if all sides agree i can set this up pretty quick couple of docs to be sent etc... we have been recognised by all major banks/credit co's etc for third party repayments for years now

Sounds bloody excellent idea :)

why let a few rotten apples spoil it for the masses name them ure a club and should be able to weed out these weasles that are obviously here not to help out but blag gear via you guys and your good nature........if you dont nip this kind of thing in the bud early on you will end up with a forum full of mistrust

And of course it can work the other way as I've found out. In February I paid a VERY well known trader in full (£650, no small sum of money for me) for a part that should have taken two weeks maximum to arrive. It still isn't here nearly eight months on. When he still answered the phone to me it was always "it's nearly here" or "it's held up in transit" etc, etc but now he doesn't answer my calls or return my (many) messages. And yes Mac is aware of the situation (which is why, as much as I'd like to, I'm refraining from naming names or going into detail). And yes I am p1ssed off beyond all recognition now. And yes, if the trader is reading this I am going to start looking into the proper legal redress for this unhappy situation. Like I said, sad as it is, it can work the other way as well guys. :(

of course they should be named and shamed, (after every effort has been made to sort it) if nothing else to stop others being ripped,

I agree with this - at least try to sort out the problem first. I would happily send items out to subscribed members before the cheque arrives/clears. I like to think that fellow paid up members are all essentially honest.

It's important to get all the facts first - eg did the post office actually deliver the goods??

After that then name and shame.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Now getting a nice list of people selling parts and not sending them out after they are paid for:(:(:(

This could be a very interesting list as some of these were paid for in June.

Its a big problem as to how to safeguard yourself, the buyer has to pay and trust the seller is honest. However as soon people get fed up of excuses then tell Mac 1 and stop em selling owt till its sorted.

I buy off ebay and always send a cheque or meet them with cash. I often get iotems sent beofre cheque has cleared, as my 100% positive feedback record shows I aint dodgy.

I have deliberately avoided Paypal due to the increased risk of fraud.

nonpayers shoukld be named - first give them a chance to pay up, then name and shame. :mac1:
