Big Camber problem

Hi all,

Have a bit of a large problem with the camber etc settings on my Zed because it has been lowered.

It started with a trip down to my local tyre place to mend a suspected slow puncture on my drivers side front.

As soon as the guy took the tyre of it was apparent I had a bigger problem. The inside edge had been chewed up something rotten and the guys could not believe I had not had a blowout! All the other tyres are bald on the inside edges too, but not actually splitting. I have had 2 new tyres on the front for now but I am going to have the same problem unless I get the this set up right.

I called a guy that was recommended by my tyre place and when I called him he said he could not do it unless he had the figures to set up all the HICAS gubbins on the rear, something about needing to find the neutral setting.

He also said he can't do it because my wheels (18's) are too big to go on his machine or whatever they use.

What's the deal with this camber correction kit I keep on hearing about?

Can anyone please help me on this matter,

Justin

Well, I guess the camber correction kit has to make more sense seeing I am anything but minted at the moment. Will I need to know how much mine has been lowered by to set the kit? I don't have a clue how much mine has been lowered by as the springs (progressive jobbies) were already on the car when I got it from Japan. I did put new KYB shocks on it though as the old trust ones I had were shot.

Doing a search I have found that worn bushes can also be an issue. Mine are leaking something rotten at the mo. Loads of spots of liquid on the tarmac where I park my car. I guess it could be a set of polybushes as well as a camber kit on its way, or could it just be the bushes causing the problem?

if ur fronts been lowered then thrs almost certainly a camber issue (stock setup has no means of adjustment), dunno how bushes would affect camber but i suppose its possible worn ones could make it worse (am sure someone who knows a lot more than me will clear that up)

harve's camber correction kit comes with lotsa differnt sized pieces so u can correct ur camber by however much its out, il try n find th details

Top man, thanks for that:)

I would imagine I would need to get a check done first. Any ideas of a good place around Surrey?

Rear suspension has a small amount of adjustability built in to the upper arm.

Cheers Jeff,

So I take it all I need is a front camber kit then. I would imagain I will need a camber check done first though?

IIRC camber kit is a load of shims-to fit these correctly the car would have to be on the aligner,so that shims could be added/removed to give the correct readings. But if ANY suspension bushes are worn/leaking sort these first-as changing them later will undo all the previous work.HTH ;)

I found out i had exactly the same problem on the fronts the other week when i had the wheels refirbed

are these kits universal or zed specific

am just down the road from you in bracknell, never see many zeds around here though
