Guys,

 

A lad at work with a standard MR2 Turbo reckons that he can beat not onyl my car, 300zx tuned to high 300bhp's, but alos kick the arse of any s14 on a 1/4 mile strip.

 

He also reckons that a standard MR2 does the 1/4 mile in 13.5s......

 

How can this be, my 300zx standard has a quicker 0-60 and 0-100, and yet he claims his 1/4 mile time is better than most 300zx standard 1.4 times of about 14 seconds......

 

What do u guys think?

 

I am def goign to race him just to keep him quiet I think!!

Can't give you specific times but a mate of mine has a chipped MR2 turbo (276 bhp). It's quick, no doubt, but he's never yet managed to keep up with me.

I said I had seen a MR2 Turbo run a 1/4 mile in 13.6 & 13.8 - but didnt know what it had done to it and that as I understand it (not having taken my down the 1/4 just yet) MR2 Turbos can break 14 secs with the usual entry mods - exhaust induction kit and a chip

 

He has kindly agreed to put his boost down to std spec and we'll have a lil race to see - I dont imagine I will seriuolsy beat him but then I have nothing to loose ;)

Ah I see Gareth has joined the 300zx forum, perhaps he is starting to understand the WANT of a 300zx........the force is draggin him in!

 

In my defence, he did say a STANDARD MR2 Tub can do a 1/4 in 13.6 though which when compared to shrimpos times, means he would win! I just find that hard to believe!......very.....

Rev 3 mr2 turbos run 5.2 to 60 stock - which is faster than a zed, and they normally run quarters in the mid/high 13's.........

Look at it this way - a 300 has 280bhp and weighs 1600kg (175 bhp/ton)

A rev 3 mr2 turbo has 245 bhp and weighs 1200kg (200bhp/ton)

Even a rev 1 or 2 has 184 bhp/ton.....

What r u saying Adam, you can run 12's? And your talking here, loads of 300's run 12's in Auzzy.....so the cars well capable!! :) And u know it owning one!

 

Apparently with the right tyres for a serious launch and around 400bhp, I should be capable of 12's so YES, I can!

 

Read an earlier thread on here of just how capable the 300 really is adam, some foreign guy from auzzy I think...........now where is that link, anyone find it! A real eye opener.......
