Guys,

 

A lad at work with a standard MR2 Turbo reckons that he can beat not onyl my car, 300zx tuned to high 300bhp's, but alos kick the arse of any s14 on a 1/4 mile strip.

 

He also reckons that a standard MR2 does the 1/4 mile in 13.5s......

 

How can this be, my 300zx standard has a quicker 0-60 and 0-100, and yet he claims his 1/4 mile time is better than most 300zx standard 1.4 times of about 14 seconds......

 

What do u guys think?

 

I am def goign to race him just to keep him quiet I think!!

In my eyes it's not just about the speed, it's the image, the looks, the luxury, the pure road prescence. The 300zx is not meant to be lightweight racer, it's a luxurious beast that just happens to be quick as stink when you mash the fun pedal. :hyper:

Also, people that come on other boards with the sole intent of winding up other members must be lonely or maybe attention seeking in some way... it's pretty sad really mate. In short, enjoy your car, go back to your MR2 buddies and tell them how great it was arguing with strangers over the internet, and try and chill the **** out before you bust something... :smw:

This thread is a pile of ****, if I wanted a Mister 2 I would have bought one, but I didn't, IMHO they are cheap, nasty little cars, so stop comming on here yabbering about them.

I dont like the look of them, I dont like the sound of them, and I dont like the interior of them. An MR2 turbo to the standard bystander would just be an MR2, 'oh look another mr2' they look horrible IMHO! The Z is more of a head turner, more luxurious and IMHO a better car.

 

I also dont like the people who drive them as they all seem to be on here just to wind people up? and they definatly sound like they have something to prove? perhaps because they do, because everyone knows the MR2T is over rated, over sized mx5.

 

The MR2 turbo is perhaps quick down the quater, but not as quick as a Z ;). Find me the documented times from a reputable car road test company that shows the MR2 turbo is better than a Z? And how do we know those mr2's are stock? I have seen MR2 turbos run rubish 1/4 miles? same as I have seen Z's run rubbish so quit yabbering on about the best ones you have seen!

 

On the road, equal in any gear, the Z floors it, bye bye MR2, and the comment about bhp per ton, its not about, its about total torque output that will relate to the overall faster car.

 

And round the twisties mate no problem, cue my racelogic, nearly a foot of rubber either side of the rear and 400bhp ;) see you any time mate, and I wont even use the nos either I wont need it!

Oh sorry didn’t you know that the majority of Mr2’s come with air con, leather as well? The Mr2 is no sparsely furnished economy hatch. Anyway who are you kidding, I would hardly describe the 300zx as luxury. The ZX has some hideous tweed cloth interior not only on the seats but also on the flipping dash board!

 

Ooo yeah feel that luxurious nylon finish!

Eh? Are you smoking dope? To even get close to the Mr2’s weight you would need to gut the ZX, and start fitting carbon panels! I am sorry but the ZX weighs around 1600kg and the Mr2 weighs 1200kg. Removing the AC and your seats from your ZX would never drop the weight 400kg! That is some serious weigh loss on any car! Even shedding 100kg is no cheap and easy feat on a daily driven road car. So don’t be silly you could never get near the weight of the Mr2 without taking drastic measures.

Those weight reducing measures would take off 200KG which is enough to reduce your car on minor roads to a minor car in the mirror.

 

Leather wasn't standard on the MR2 either. And it was put togther by the chuckle brothers - rattle rattle.

TBH I was just fed up of things constantly going wrong/ bits breaking....

Aside from the small fortune I spent modding it, I spent almost as much replacing non performance stuff..... loom (twice, 1 faulty!!), heatermatrix, starter motor (twice), ringgear, powersteering pump and hoses, etc etc etc etc

Note that I've never said 300's were $hit - I loved mine when I had it - apart from when it was being a cow, but I'm just as pleased with my MR2 - moreso infact cos (knock on wood) it hasnt put me close to £20 grand in debt (yet), and nothings (knock on wood again) gone tits up yet..............

Nitrous has only just in the past week been fitted (after the complete mare of trying to drill smithies pipes for the foggers, and hide the solonoids from the open eye of the rozzers on a bonnet pop :O!) as you will probably see in the thread in general. Why should I have to prove I have TC etc? it hardly cost that much, or perhaps it does to you, because your paper round doesnt pay that much and so its a life time investment.

 

I don't run the 1/4 mate, never have, don't see the point in it, doesn't make you a man because you do, and I don't need to give a 16yr old wannabie with an attitude anything. Apart from the steam perhaps from my piss in the morning.

 

Perhaps you go on about the quater mile so much because you cant drive anything other than in a straight line? or you think it makes up for your lack of size in the trouser area, do you even drive?
