Cut a story short, I just had a pop at a neighbour who keeps parking our block of flats large private drive.

Not normally a problem, but today he parked very inconsiderably, taking up 2 spaces and leaving me with no room to park.

So I printed out a notice, saying "I shouldnt be parked here and I cant park properly", and put it under his wiper.

5 mins later I go back to find hes removed it and put it under my wiper.

He stepped over the line at that point :D

I put it back on his car, and waited behind a wall and as i thought, he came back out, and then I confronted him. I probably wasnt as polite as I could of been, but then he did wind me up swapping the notice over.

The guy says "I can never park in the road, no space" blah blah, I pointed out (loudly) that I dont give a flying f*ck and he should talk to the council about it. He then says hes not going to move his car, so I then pushed him etc, didnt hit him though. Could of though, but I had my head on. He then agreed to move the car...

Then another neighbour comes out, and informs me one of the other cars is his too!

Anyway, what I wanna know is, am I allowed to clamp his car? and am I allowed to charge money to remove it? or can I use a clamping company?

The block of flats is run(yea right) by a managing agent who really dont care, and reckon its too much paperwork and admin for them to persue.

I wanna sort this guy out without it firing back on me, all I can think of at the moment is letting his tyres down as it wont cause any damage, just alot of inconvenience.

Clamping sounds better to me, but can I do it?

I think there have to be visible signs warning of the intent to clamp offenders and the release penalty. You really would have to get your management agent to take care of it. Also, there would have to be a way of identifying legally parked vehicles (eg: permit etc..) which is more expense and hassle :(

try your luck

just clamp him

or ring up a private clamping firm

they will be more than keen to help

depends if you rent, or own, i would have thought. If you own you flat and the car parking space then i guess you could be entitled.

I had this problem, I worked for a recovery company at the time. Completely lost it one day and picked the offending car up with my rec truck and moved it 2 streets away, come back and parked up. Never had that problem again. funny that! ;) . Sorry that does`nt help you tho, unless you know someone with a recovery truck :)

hehe

a friend has offered to lend me his transit and push it out of the way in future, which sounds like a plan.

I own the flat, but not the freehold, the land is for our block of 6 flats...

I think im out of luck RE: legally clamping them, so I'll have to just do it anyway and *****cks with it, take it as it comes... cant see the police giving a mokeys if i clamped it, can you? I think they would only care if i refused to remove it on request? police round here are crap, only care if they know they can solve it and put a + on their stastics.

Came out to my car one say, minus alloys... neighbours told me who done it, and the police just didnt care at all...

If you clamp his car, he could in theory claim criminal damage, as he could if you let his tyres down, (criminal damage does not have to be permanent), but chances of him doing that are low. Even so I would not go about risking upsetting the guy for the sake of a parking space, he does know your car and if he comes back to see you have clamped him who knows what he will do to your car?!

Just leave him polite notes all the time, and bombard your building management people with phonecalls, letters and pictures of him parking there etc... they will have him legally clamped just to get you off their backs.

he inconvienences you...return the favour..just park behind him so he cant move out...when he pops round tell him you'll be out in a miniute to move it...then carry on like he never called round..put the kettle on have a bath..etc..do this a few times and he'll realise it takes 30 mins to get his car out...alternatively start putting bread crumbs on his roof or cat-nip...:)

or better still....a few frozen prawns into the bonnet air vents...that is a killer...:)

twinpier, you should change your name to ghandi, you are clearly the king of non-violent protest/warfare.
