Johnny grasshopper man is just about to do this,Give him a call am sure he will give you all the bumf.

Senna you got your momo sorted yet???

Spooky......I've just spend the last hour trying to find a company that sells uprated clutches for the Z.

I believe a twin plate clutch will have 2 extra friction surfaces that will provide a smoother bite for the higher pressure mechanism. (That all sounded like waffle - so somebody please elaborate!)

Also....After an interesting conversation with 'Grasshopper' Johnny earlier, he mentioned ACT clutches and I found this link: http://www.nipponpower.com/drivetrain/clutch/act_nissan.html

....they also sell lightweight flywheels - Fidanza?? Has anybody encountered these before?

Cool, got the Homo-Momo sorted thanks. Found a center cap in a lil' ole motorists discount shop on the Isle of Wight - cost me a fiver. I was truly flabbergasted.

Nice one!

Johnnys clutch is frazzled at the moment.

This is due to the size of the women he keeps picking up around the back streets of Manchester.

TwinPlates are clutches with two centre/friction plates. Normal clutches have only one centre/friction plate and the outside cover. When you get extremely high hp loads on the drivetrain a single plate gives up the ghost pretty quickly, you have to run exceedingly large pressure plate clamp pressures to get them to hold, along with multi puck designs which can make the 'race' single plates harsh for road use (I've got a 4 puck kevlar/ceramic w 2100lb plate in my car works like a charm.. but I've driven some brass puck 2800lb plate clutches and they SUCK, and have a habit of breaking clutch forks).

Multiplates on the other hand don't have the stupidly high clamping pressures (via the pedal anyway), but are more on/off in nature than single plates. I think the more plates you have the more switch like the clutch becomes. We've got an OS Triple Plate in our TD06'er and it's nearly impossible to slip the clutch.. it takes a very very very steady left foot with some extreme precision to pull away cleanly.

I think Twin Plates are the good compromise between holding power and driveability. I haven't driven one but I haven't heard any bad reports.

Oh and the cost a bomb too. Triple Plates are roughly $5000NZD / $1600GBP i think twin plates are a little less.

So if you have got one in there.. lucky bstard!

And then there's the tiny tilton multiplates... the clutches are quite small in overall diameter so reduce the rotating mass significantly, combine with lightweight flywheel, ud pulley, accessory pulleys, lightened conrods and pistons and you'll haev a real vrap vrap engine smile.gif

You may be interested in an old thread from when I purchased an ACT Heavy Duty Street Clutch? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum1/HTML/000314.html

If you take a look at the TurboImports site you will see they offer a twin plate clutch (ouch, yes the cost). http://www.turboimports.com/clutches---drivetrain-nissan-300zx.html

I would be guided by Johnny, and if possible buy through him. If not, then Pheung at GRRacing ( http://www.eatricezone.com/other01.html )

can be highly recommended too. Although priced a bit higher (for this part than TurboImports), Pheung has been very good with other orders and helped save a bit on the postage, etc.....

Hope this helps? Geoff

TurboImports sells the OS Giken twin disc for $40 USD less but if they don't fudge the paperwork and if they use UPS, you'll end up paying more in the end smile.gif

Later,

Phuong - EatRiceZone.com

I can recommend the ACT Street Clutch. I got mine from Turbo Imports .com for about $400.

Holds the power very well, although the pedal action is a but on the stiff side.
