From J.Bond Man with the golden gun....has to be?

The spiral "Javelin Jump" was inspired from an American Motors Corporation promotional tour which was running around the time the movie was made. The movie jump was performed with a modified 1974 Hornet X: special suspension, a six cylinder engine (for reduced weight), centered steering wheel, and a special fuel system to stop the car stalling when turning over. During AMC's promotional tour, they used AMC Javelins and had a few mishaps (including a roof landing when the car stalled on approach to the ramp), but the stunt that appeared in the film was done on the first take. A group of university students came up with the original idea, and used a computer to calculate the necessary environment. Although the bridge halves look dilapidated, they were constructed to exacting specifications. The stunt car had to approach the ramp at right-angles, do a sharp turn, and then hit the ramp at a predetermined speed.

To spoil the ending...the Hornet completes the jump just fine, but the Matador escapes.....by attaching wings and flying off!

The one where a silver wide arch Z overtakes an Overfinch Range Rover in 2nd gear and the big end bearings fall apart - the Z embarrassingly has to stop in front of it :mac1: :nono:

 

A sequel could have been made of the resulting 18 month long repairs :D

ask cossie chris about a certain near death jump going over the second humpback bridge near to duffers mums the look on the guys face in the car coming the other way as we got airbourne 2 abreast was a truely awesome stunt but in the case of a film id say the film dirty mary crazy larry where they get totalled by the train is a good stunt

Mate in passengers seat designated driver as driver is on L plates.

Heading from causway to bridge, jumps bridge, mates in back slam into roof and bounce all over the place, mate in passenger seat hits head on roof and knocks himself out. Drive takes corner on 2 wheels, makes corner at 50 (its a simpca van, it could only do 65) pulls hand break as breaks have died, just for a laugh realy. Hits a rain divvet sideways on and roll the van which land perfectly on its wheels withought touching the roof.

 

Picure on friends in back face.... absolutly priceless. As soon as passenger came round we did it again.

 

oh on film, gone in 60 seconds. original film. where hes chased by cops and ends up in the car wash.

For a friend and colleague of mine, who jumped a bridge, it was death, for him and his two friends the driver lived and is still serving his sentence, I hope, don't jump hump back bridges,this ain't a cunning stunt!
