I have just been looking through the 'Cars for sale' section and I just can't belive how many Zed's are going for under 3k.

I only bought mine last year for 4k and I would not consider it a 'Minter' but then again it is of average condition. It seems if I were to sell it now I would be lucky to get 2k for it.

Have the prices really dropped that much in a year or is it just a few people selling up cheap?. What is going on with Zed prices?

I did want to sell my Zed to part fund my trip to Australia but looks like it would not be worth it and I may as well just keep her stored considering the money I would get from a sale!

People are buying and selling quickly when they realise they can't afford to run the cars, So someone will buy for 5.5k and 6months later try and sell for 5k to get a quick sale and the process continues until they hit 2k.....

Personally I think its a tradgedy if they hit a price that low. I dont think i would sell mine for less than 6k

Very true Mike - I remember buying my first Zed for £18k and selling it a year later for 13K. 5K in a year! The running costs killed me because it was my daily drive (and I was a wee youngster - this was 10 years ago! ;) )

Don't start me!

I'm considering selling to a friend as he might be interested at a budget price.

I went into Camden Nissan in Aylesbury last week to look at a new 350Z. I got talking to the salesman (who I told I had no interest in PXing my Zed against one - as I would still want to keep it).

He was saying that since the launch of the 350Z and the Top Gear whipping it got from the 300ZX, that there has been an increased interest in the 300ZX which has shown some fetching higher prices.......

You wouldn't think that reading the for sale section here, though. LOL :nono:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I would have to agree with Mikes comments, I nearly gave up many time, never would though.... :mac1:

i can relate to that !!!

I searched for ages to find mine...dont care what it cost..(not a lot) but am keeping it!

Reckon prices are at an all time low so things can only get better

Hey...we buy em because they are the best,,,You only lose if you sell!

i see it as the cheap ones are dogs! where as ones that maticulously looked after and had money spent will go for a lot more. Also the owner of the z will get what they want pricewise its a shame the value of late is taking the piss by desperate sellers IMO ebay for example takes the pi** and personally woudent degrade the z to bargain hunters on ebay! there like vultures

ebays great! just s**t for z stuff, unless u want a watch with nissan emblem proper bo

i just goes to show that it's not worth selling up :D

......and if everyone stop trying to sell the price would go up - there's a thought :hyper: :hyper: :D

Hummm - yes, the power of collective action - problem is most people don't believe in it ;-(

perhaps we need to lobby hollywood producers to put a zed in another movie...thereby restoring kudos and value once again

The problem is that some/all/most of the UK cars are rusty now. Rust is normally a terminal event in a car. That is why I cannot understand the premium for UK cars. A non rusty Jap import with a dodgy gearbox is a better bet than a mechanically perfect rusty UK car.

Yet there is this perception that it's always better to get a UK car. Why?

(being contentious again I guess)

UK Red Autos are the best, no rust on mine ! Plus from the recent Poll Im in the minority lol.

Barry.

Or were lazy sods and didnt voted, because we would have had to vote manually! lol

Not all UK cars can command a premium for the reasons you have mentioned. I would also have bought a decent import over an average UK car as the prices are not that different. However if you can find a good condition, low mileage UK car with no rust then it will fetch more than an import as it is more rare and you can trace its history. I did say IF you can find one.....

.....I did, but more by luck ;)

(UK 1991, no rust and 63k miles with FSH when I bought it last year, all MOTs and I'm the 2nd owner  )

Same here Richard, 1990 UK, 54k with mostly stamped history, paperwork, mots.

Didn't you get yours from Kent Terry (japcity)?

Thought he only dealt in imports?

Oh, and yellow is obviously the best colour!

Was the Zed in a movie? Which movie if thats a fact? Sorry guys Im new to the Zed at the moment. Ex Hayabusa Biker!!! It sounds like some people should have done a little research on the affordability of the Zed before buying and then taking the p..s, its obvious its not a paper boys machine, similar to the Hayabusa which was always knocking on the door of 200mph before they strangled it!!!

Good stuff guys.

Jp

IMHO under 4k = shoddy car, I would expect to still pay over 5k for a standard UK Z in good nick off an old boy who has looked after it.

For a modded one, that is in very good condition with FSH and has not been neglected I would see 6k-7.5k

Recently though a few of my friends have been buying Z's after falling in love with mine, the first few we saw were all priced over 6k and were absolute dogs, smokey, ratly, shaking things that drove as poor as they sounded. The problem is you get the odd barry who buys one for 2.5 - 3k rags the shit out of it for a few months, and then tries to sell it for 6k cause he sees others going for that price, to people like my mate who dont know about Z's he would have picked the first shine over shit he see if someone hadnt been there telling him to walk away.

Another chap bought one for 3k I know and proceded to take the piss out of how much mine cost until it blew up and he couldnt afford to fix it one month after buying it :S

but you could always put a cover over the car for 2yrs save up the money for a rebuild or turbos!plus the mileage stays the same :D

A guy i know (once a regular on here) paid £4k for

a g-reg jap tt auto, had to spend £300 on it the very

next week, then in excess of £1000 over the next month.

He then sold it for £2.5k!

I told him not to buy the 1st one he saw, would he listen...

...would he bo**ocks!....He's now got an MPV!!!(no kids!) :xxx:
