Hi. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this. I've replaced the tie bars which did nothing. It doesn't do it in reverse only forwards so can't be disk warp. I think the tracking may be toeing in slightly because the tyres seem to be rapidly wearing on the outer edge. The camber of the road seems to affect which way the car "pulls" too. Can toe-in cause vibration ? maybe under heavy braking the wheels are toeing inwards even more?

Any suggestions would be helpful as I'm stuck with this one. Car has just been MOT'd too!

Thanks

Dave.

MOT has nothing to do with the wheels toe-ing in.

Why not take it to a tyre shop and have the tracking checked out?

tracking and toe in or out will not make the car vibrate, and why does it not do it in reverse? Is it becasue you are going a lot slower?

My money would be warped discs.

Vibration of the car.... most likely suspension, Vibration through brake pedal...most likely warped disc

...let us know..

mine does the same and its in for the poly bushes on friday. if this dont work then its new 3g discs for me, but ill let you know what happens. removed the abs fuse and its alot better than it was. sure thats not a good idea if it rains.

This is quite a well known problem with these cars - worn brake discs have to be the prime suspect.

Russ.

I'm going to have a pure stab at this..

Beam me up Scotty, Warp Factor Z.

Your disks mate, their pants on the Z. They always warp, know problem, and they dont half shake the car when they are warped.

Warped discs or tension bushes.

Just out of interest why would you be heavy breaking in reverse ?.

i had the same problem, turned out to be the front cross member snapped !!!!, cost me £630 supplied and fitted, now it still vibrates under speed and judders under slow speed, been told i need new brake discs now.. what next???

I put my trusty old solid discs back on and hey presto - there's no vibration at all. :) The drilled/grooved discs were virtually brand new when I bought the car so I don't rate them at all after that.

Thanks everyone for your help in diagnosing it.

Dave.
