Morning all!

Just thought I'd sound the alarm bells with regards to those of us with small bullseyes, chips and cracks in our windscreen. I just had an unfortunate experience with a lorry, lots of little rocks (could have been gravel) and close proximity. I ended up with several small bullseye chips in the windscreen (and numerous paintchips on the bumper and lower spoiler). Took it to my local Auto Windscreen Repairshop and had it all fixed on the insurance (only if you're fully comp). I asked the guy if cars pass MOTs if they have a star or bullseye outside the line of sight of the driver and he showed me documents stating that a car with any chip, star, bullseye or crack will fail an MOT regardless of where on the windscreen it is. Damn me thinks, that's harsh. Now, not all MOT stations will fail a car for these minor chips but if you are subsequently stopped by the plod and you show them a clean MOT certificate, they can go after the MOT station and revoke their licence.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Cheers!

Danny

I seem to be going through windscreens like a rat through a tunnel at the moment. Was on the other side of the road to an accident some 4 weeks (ish?) ago and the car on the otherside smacked into the crashbarrier and threw some debris at me, which my windscreen managed to field with quite some dexterity, biggrin.gif albeit shattering itself in the process and then, after AutoWindscreens eventually put it right, I am driving up the M6 yesterday and got hit again...so now I have another chip in my windscreen. Muh... frown.gif

Driving along in a gorgeous Z, other cars crashing all around

Anyone notice any connection? smile.gif

Maybe Zeds should be banned for use on the public highway as they are too

gorgeous and likely to cause an accident.

There was a 2CV a few years back which police banned from using motorways.

The owner had taken off the body and reattached it back-to-front. He had red bulbs in what used to be the headlights but were now at the back, etc etc.

Police had a "word" with him after people were shocked to see a 2CV going

backwards at 70mph along the M5

Oh dear, I'd be shocked too if I saw a 2CV doing 70mph! Never mind if it seems to be going backwards...

Hehe, actually I (or my Zed)caused an accident once.

I was driving through an intersection and there was

a line of cars waiting to drive up on the road that I was going.

The first car in the line moved but stopped when he saw me.

The car behind him started to move and I noticed that the driver

kept staring at the Zed and....BAM..rearended the first one.

Zeds are dangerous, apparently :P
