I've got a miss matched set of locks on my zed. Basically the driver door lock has been replaced so I have a one-off key for that. The only other key I have is a red valet key.

I was wondering if its possible to move the driver side door look the the passenger side (where its never used) and vice versa?

And then if its possible to get a master key cut from the valet key? I've got a new blank on order at the moment.

The alternative is a full second hand lock set but I could live without the expense and hassle to be honest!!

Cheers

Have you got the key number?

If so you should be able to go into your nearest Nissan dealer and have them cut your new blank when it turns up.

Otherwise, you should be able to have a new master cut from you valet, as the pattern doesnt change, its only the configuration of the groves in the metal that are different, not the bumps (the bit that is cut)

 You could always have a remote central locking alarm fitted this will solve the key problem...just a thought

........and you suggest a couple of hundred pound of alarm :)

Silverfox, I'm sure that if you take your barrel to a good locksmith they can cut your key to suit.

Is the key number just the one etched on the key itself? Seems a bit too obvious a way for someone to be able to copy your key.

I do actually have a remote central locking alarm at the moment (another problem I have is only having one alarm remote!) so its really not a huge problem. I'm just trying to keep it all as neat as possible. By the sounds of it a compete second hand lock set would be the way forward if the part numbers are different.

Are the locks easy to fit? I imagine the ignition switch is the trickiest!
