I thought you should be able to wiggle it a bit "up and down" but not really "in and out"... where "a bit" is not very much anyway but enough to be able to feel it.

 

(By up and down I mean across the axis, and in and out is along the direction of the axis of rotation.)

 

Cos it doesn't actually spin on the bearings, it spins on a solidy-liquidy oil layer under pressure which sits between the bearings and the race? So no oil pressure, you'll get a bit of play.

 

Either way yours sound fooked as discussed yesterday :(

There was way too much play! and on closer inspection of one of mine the blades had started to go :shock:
