How long do you reckon it will take me to get from London to Brighton...

... on my clapped out old bike :hyper:

Yep, on Sunday 20th June I'm doing the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton sponsored bike ride.

If anyone would like to sponsor me £1 , I will fly the flag for the club by getting http://www.300zx.co.uk plastered all over me bike and t-shirt!

You can donate your pound on-line at my official BHF sponsor page:

http://www.bhf.org.uk/sponsor/alandrake

Thanks for your support!!

I did this ride a couple of years ago.......on a tandem!!! It was a right laugh. We left from Clapham Common and from memory it took about 6 hours. But it was pissing with rain and there were alot of hold ups.

You'll enjoy it - its a good day.

it took about 6 hours

Quicker than the M1 then :D

Yeah, did this a few times when I were a lad! I used to go with a couple of mates. In fact we used to go everywhere on our push-bikes. We even used to go from West London to Southend and back!

Wait till you hit the 'Ditchling Beacon' just outside Brighton......killer!!

Good luck!

Thanks Kia99 :) (R U Glynn?)

Nice one and much appreciated- come see me if you're at billing for your :duffer:

Yeah that's me. No problem, you are more than welcome. Just think it's great when people get up and do things like this for charity, top respect.

I will be at billing for at least one day, you there for the whole weekend?

Yea, me hope to trundle up to Billing sometime Sat- barbie, drinking, camping, lake throwing etc then sunday chilling.

Thanks again and for the words of respect. Its been a long time since I done something like this- last one was 10 years ago Birmingham to Oxford- 72 miles. Got burnt and exaustion and was not on this planet after that one. Could be interesting 10 years on 5 million :duffer: and 68 million fags. :(

Good on you Al,

Donation made ... I guess you should have asked for £3.00 and I should really have pledged £3.50 - but hey!! :D

Won't be able to share in your beer at Billing - going to a wedding  So, I won't be there.

Good luck and well done in advance,

CheerZ,

JB.

Good man John-Boy- shame I cant offer you a beer at billing. Next event eh!

I do always feel uncomfortable asking for sponsorship as being skint myself, its hard to give up hard earned cash. So I just ask a quid which people can find down the back of the sofa. I done the same for my workmates asking just the quid. It does mount up after a while.

My missies has sponsored me £25 from her website http://www.delicates.co.uk (plug). Hope I dont have to wear a thong!!

Well me done it! 6.5 hours. Not the best time in the world, but not bad for an unfit alcy smoker like me. Got totally soaked at one point. Lots of good accidents- at one point heard a scream behind me, looked round and saw some poor girl go skidding down the hill head first. Too many hills and the last evil mutha- Ditchling Beacon, fook me, ya need a cable car to get up that sonobitch. Today my legs are like lead and having trouble getting up the stairs in the office- having trouble also sitting down! Still, all worth it as got 200 squid for chhaaridy. Thanks to you guys who supported me and if anyone else is feeling generous, the online sponsor link is at the beginning of this thread.

Cheers :duffer:
