Got a sligh belt sqeal from Cerina car a few day ago. I had a chance to look at it this morning to tighten the tensioners.

I found the top bolt to the alternator was pretty much all the way out and the alternator is not misaligned so it doesn't go back in.

I've stripped out the rad, fan and taken the belt off, but it just doesn't seem to want to line up with the hole anymore.

The adjuster screw is loose and the alternator does move but I can not seem to get the bolt to line up.

Do you think I need to take the alternator off completely or am I missing something ?

get the bolt out and put a screwdriver in and wedge as long as the holes line up enough...then hammer the original bolt back in.

getting the nut at the back of the alternator back into place is a bit of a nightmare...but you'll have to put the nut back, otherwise the bolt will work it's way out again within a month and you can start all over.

Hi Eric, not seen you around for a while.

Thanks for the advice. I won't be able to get a screw driver in there as the holes are so misaligned. I'll try smacking the alternator a fair bit to see if I can get enough space to use your method.

That nut is almost impossible to put back on !!!!!.

I had to use liquid metal instead. I'm hoping that will hold it. I just hope she doesn't need to replace her alternator in within the next 2 years .

That's exactly what I did after an hour of swearing and cursing at that bolt :D

...Damn Nissan engineers.
