Fizzing/Leaking sound - help!!!

Just got back from a 50-mile thrash through the countryside, got out the car and heard a fizzing leaking sound, as if a fluid was trying to escape through a tiny hole, coming from behind the nearside rear wheel. It slowed down after 5 mins, but when I rocked the back of the car it started up again. I'm worried :( Any ideas?

Did you have your air con on?

I get something like this in warm weather. There is an a/c or heating hose on the low left hand side of the engine which is covered in a metal foil-like material. it goes through the bulk-head IIRC (below the battery). I've seen water - probably condensation - dripping from this on a hot day and it drips right on the L/H exhaust behind the turbo. As it hits the hot exhaust the water sizzles and evapourates. Sometimes there is a small puddle just under the car when the exhaust has cooled down, but this evapourates after an hour or so.......

I don't think it is anything serious  - the a/c works properly and quickly and I'm not loosing coolant, so I guess it is condensation. (All a/c systems produce it sometimes)

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Fuel tank runs with a slight vacuum pulled on it when engine running - maybe the fuel filler cap wasnt on tight enough or maybe you've a leak on the filler neck. Would explain rear nearside for the noise and it starting again when you rock the fuel - prolly nothing to worry about

Thx for reply Richard but noise was more toward back (was hoping it was something simple like that!) I'm fairly sure the filler cap was on ok Willie - this is the first and only time I heard the noise tho. It was after i thrashed the car in lovely hot weather for about 45 minutes. Noise did sound like it could be from behind the filler cap tho. Will put up again if it happens again. Fingers crossed!
