Anyway.. I'm talking about my mobile scrap-heap of a car in this case..

 

Which blew a water hose off the back of the engine (at least thats where the steam was coming from.. you try seeing down there!) while I was doing err.. 70 (100) on the M40

 

I *think* the HG is OK - the temp never hit the top of the gauge, and I pulled over and stopped (and let it piss the rest of the brown muddy water over the hard shoulder )..

 

Then had to wait 4 hours to get a flatbed (AA) truck that was low enough to get the Z onto to take me home (Slough)...

 

So.. Now I have three choices...

 

o Try and fix the hose with everything in place (hard)

o Pull the upper & lower plenum off for access and replace the hoses

o Pull the engine and replace *all* rubber hoses

 

Votes? Ideas? Volunteers for help!? (*purrleeeassee*)

Yes.. I know my back wheels *were* on backwards.. They're not now, 'k? ;)

pull the plenum and replace every hose you can get your hands on.

Also check/replace the injectors while you're down there..

Stuart - Yup.. you should see the list of everything else thats died recently (central heating, laptop, Zed, etc etc)..

 

Oh yeah and when I started the Z this morning, it was running on 5 cyls...

 

Eric - you reckon pulling the plenum will give me access to everything I need?

Ahh what the hell its easier than pulling the whole engine, and I can probably get at the EGT, AIV's and PVC's easier then too..

 

Any volunteers for giving me a hand?

The pub does do nosh, but as we live in the middle of nowhere there is bugger all else. Village facilities amount to a pub and a post box. Bus service is on Thursday - no joke. However, the pub is conveniently close - while they don't actually deliver, they probably would if I asked nicely ! Anyway, getting larruped is not on the cards as it looks like both you two have to drive and I have to get up unfeasibly early (for me) to get into London. So it looks like a couple of pints and a coffee for us lot.
