I am getting the timing belt done this weekend and was wonerding if there is anything i sould advise the person doing it, eg any problems that you have encountered or things to make it an easier job.

Also got the other 3 belts and plugs and filters so basically it's a well needed service.

What is the best oil and how much does my 1990 Z32 tt take?

Advice much appriciated.

Most of the guys change the water pump too!

Lots of threads on oil type, capacities, org or synthetic.

Also most change the washer on the drain plug.

What do I know, I dont own a Z!

Happy zedding.

Arthur

Agree with water pump. Also 2 x water hoses above thermostat and thermostat itself (see attached). It's a pig of a job to get to this stuff so best to replace whilst your in there anyway!

Don't forget the cambelt tensioner too! Its damn expensive but well worth replacing!!!

Sorry to hi-jack but were would the best place be to get a new cambelt tensioner and the other two pulleys, i am getting a bit of a rattle from either the top centre pully or the tensioner and am thinking of just replacing all three.

I know courtesy parts do them but is there an alternative aprt from Nissan UK?

Could be the VTC springs that one ;)

Bugger! If you're changing the pulleys, you may as well do the belt while you're there - even if it was recently done... All IMO of course :)

Seconded

I knew very little about these cars when I got mine. I had the cambelt changed at 64000 as soon as I got it, then 3 months later the water pump and 2 poncy little front water hoses went. Lesson learned :slap:

Luckily my warranty co picked up the bill :D

As Andyduff mentioned, it is probably worth changing belt tensioner too. Had mine done with the cambelt on the advice of my mechanic - IIRC Nissan charged £200-ish for the part, the :xxx:

Ahh ive found a guy localy that does a bloody good job and dont **** about with prices.

Did full loom, water pump, belt, pullies, hoses, sensors, crank angle cams, fuel pump, fuel lines and some other stuff for £550 labour and I know he was working on it for a few days solid. Did a cracking job too
