Power surge

Funny problem, sometimes when driving the z, I would be accerlerating and my car will jump from about 3500rpm to about 4500rpm and then back down, this feels like the car gets a sudden surge of power as you can hear the revs going up, but the power doesn't seem to come through until the revs actually go back to normal. The clutch feels fine, and I have had my turbos re'cond recently (the problem was there beofore the recon aswell). What can this be????

sounds like you're popping the clutch to me - what clutch are you running with??

mine does the same, probably the clutch, you are putting a lot of load on it in that rev range

The standard one, I have had the car 4yrs +, and never changed it, but it has not effected the top end.....yet!.......so it can't be anything else?

it could possibly be rear engine seal leaking oil onto the clutch, people told me that could be the cause of my problem

you need to take the clutch and flywheel off to change this anyway, so you can have a look at the state of the clutch,

check that your fluid is ok and that your clutch cylinder is full and there are no air bubbless or leaks in the system.

If it is the clutch, how much am I looking at for a decent clutch?

what do you want to do?

many people rate the RPS clutch that smithy uses and its good enough for good power, i think its 450bhp rated and sells for about £340, this is the route i plan to take, if you want to keep everything stock then a stock nissan clutch will do, sorry but i don't know how much these are,

basically if you plan to increase power then see smithy for a clutch, mike feeney (mjp) will be able to get you a stcok item at a reasonable price, both are in the traders section.
