Fixed my water leak (I think), but now my aircon compressor clutch (I think) has given up..

Basically, if I switch on the aircon, I get a moaning noise (very loud!) coming from the area of the compressor.. Kinda like belt squeal only a lot lower.. Sound like the clutch, or the compressor?

Trouble is coz I get so much water coming in (grr) I need to use the demister quite a bit frown.gif

(sighs)

Oh God here we go again.

Please keep track of all the fixes you are doing, so one weekend we can get into my car and fix all these things lol

Hi Aaron,

Me again. smile.gif Take the belt off the compressor, and rotate / wobble the pulley. It could be your bearing is shot. I've got one completely seized pulley on mine, which will be replaced with a secondhand one I bought.

Simon.

I'll give that a go - cheers m8..

Here's a question - would it be OK to just cut the existing A/C belt off? Otherwise I can't even run the fan to demist the windscreen on a morning... D'oh!

Az

You can cut the belt, I drove for almost a year without a aircon-belt.

Demister still works like a charm

Me too - Infact, when I bought the car, the compressor was seized. So, It'll be an experience when its working!

Great - I'll be doing that tomorrow as well then!

Cheers smile.gif
