How much oil does the engine take? with/out filter

Featured Replies

If you find out tell Stuart

look it up in the online workshop manual you lazy git!! :p

oh yeah forgot the manual! Spent ages searching and looking on how to's...Dumb sh!t! :mac1:

Even with the filter on you can usually only get between 3.5 to 4 litres in there (empty filter to begin with)... Newly rebuilt will be different but its hard to get all the oil out of the engine when simply doing a service....

If you find out tell Stuart
Meow :D

I put in about 2.5 litres and ill top it up as I go. Nice castrol RS 10-60, first time using it as im finding 10-40 a bit thin.

Mine takes exactly one container/ 4 litres every time.

Yup, mine too...... ;)

Just bought some Millers XFS fully synth 5w40 from Mike Feeney ready for service next month.

Only cost £21+vat for 5 Litres  Much cheaper than the £40 odd Mr Shell charged for 4 litres of Helix Ultra

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I changed mine last week and the shell book stated it should take 3.4L without the oil cooler and 4.4L with

But mine took exactly 4L too

Eddie

my dipstick is useless to read, how do you know when you have enough in without putting too much in?
