Lambda Sensors

Anyone know where the cheapest place to get lambda sensors is ?

Think one of mine is knackered as it only flashes 5 times in 10s in mode 2, whereas the other one does about 8 flashes. Also exhausts are very black at the tailpipes.

Anyone got second hand sensors ??

Cheers

Try http://www.courtesyparts.com in the states, about $70 each I think, or http://www.nissanparts.cc (also in the states - *much* better part number lookup than Courtesy!)

John, if the sensor is flashing I would say it is pretty much ok. If it is knackered it won't flash at all wink.gif Basically it flashes when the engine adjusts from rich to lean and vice versa. If the engine is adjusting it is picking up a signal so the sensor is working.... if the light doesn't flash at all the sensor is ready for the bin smile.gif

I think mine cost me around £60 from courtesy but that was without shipping....

Just ran the car on a mate's krypton tuner.

CO was spot on 0.3 at idle and 3000rpm. Hydrocarbon PPM of 52 at 3000 ! So all in pretty good.

Looks as though maybe the lambda sensors are just dirty - when you rev then hold it it immediately goes v. rich then leans back to 0.3 CO. The guy who's meter it was reckons that the sensors can become coked up and so take a bit longer to respond. May take them out and give them a clean, but they look like a bugger to get to - there's a surprise !!

If it aint broke don't fix it!!!! wink.gif When I took mine out of the passenger side I had to smash it to get it out... or was that my fingers I smashed??? smile.gif

Seriously though - leave it as it is - they are an absolute pig and you'll risk doing more damage... You also need a special tool to remove them.
