Not much different TBH but the BLitz BOV's are louder.......

When you pull the balnket away it tears and all the 'fibres' go everywhere, not very good for you!! ;) Then you have to pull all the 'poppers' out which are brittle from the heat so shatter and bits go all over the bay........

Matty.

Why'd you remove it? Or was it to hear the BOVs better? :D

I think it spoils the look of the bay having this dark (non-shiny) dirty, blanket on the under side of the bonnet but now it's shiny, looks better, BOV's are louder, and the engine may get a tad cooler without it's blanket keeping in the heat......

:D

Matty.

You gonna stick shiny panels under the bonnet now then?

I'm not sure, I may do but I'm happy with it at the moment...

I think this one shows up the shine a bit better than the first pic...

:D

Worthwhile change IMHO as the engine noise increase is almost nil.....I say almost I just couldn't tell the difference....

i though it was there to protect the bonnet paint from pealing with the heat?

As I read in another thread the piant is 'baked' on.........So I would have thought that the paint would not be tarnished TBH....

It's only a thin blanket of 'rock wool' anyway, can't see it doing all that much....It may hold in a bit of heat but surely that can only be bad for the block..

 All ways good to keep the engine cool and the air free flowing, you might want to take the rear engine bay rubber strip off aswell just to get it flowing...;)

Took mine off today as well Matty! Nice and easy - dropped a couple of the plastic poppers into the engine bay though - doh!

How was your job messy though mate?

I tore the blanket off the poppers so all the fibres got everywhere!! in my hair, face, clothes, etc, etc..... then I took off the poppers and some of them just shattered went all over the place......hence messy....

Wasn't that messy I agree but was messy enough....:D

Matty.

I may take mine off when I spray the bonnet. I was going to any way but I was going to try put it back on. Dont think I will now.

The engine looks nice and clean Matty.

I've taken the lagging off every car I've owned lol, the whole bay looks loads fresher without it. It must be good for cooling to take it off too. I heard its there to help stop condensation forming on the underside
