Probably lots of money, two new headlamp units, copious amounts of wiring, and some relays biggrin.gif

The main ingredient being the large amounts of money I imagine!

It's not worth it, in my opinion. The pair of headlights go for around 1400 pounds. The main problem is the wiring on US spec vehicles. It shouldn't be as difficult on Jspec vehicles, though.

In my opinion, it's cheaper to just go with aftermarket HIDs (around 400 pounds).

a friend in the states just put his in and he said they cost him 500 bucks and said the differnce is unbelievable!

I looked into this, but the J-spec 99+ HID's do not fit LHD Z32's

connectors are different and the lightpattern is for RHD-cars only.

I don't think they look as nice either.

For that kind of cash i'd want looks AND performance...

Pete(SE) is testing some new lamps at the moment that SE have had designed for them. They look like Alfa jobbies, you know the twin, round ones...looked pretty nice aswell. Don't know what's happening with them, he mentioned that they would be in the new catalogue.

Also, I've got a review on an aftermarket HID kit that fits any can and can be removed easily if you change to another type of motor. It's in MAX and FC, can't remember the name of the company but I'll post the number tomorrow. I was gonna ring them myself anyway to see if the system will work on our cars as my lights are not just pants...they're USEL-ARSE and dangerous!!!

Does the kit look like this Timmy lad?

Yep, that's our baby Trev mate.

Except the ones that Pete showed us our not a one piece jobby like that. SE ones are more of a slot-in replacement for the lamp units themselves...but he said he'd hooked 'em up to 12v supply and tested them at they were pretty damn powerful.

Let's face it, anything is an improvement over standard.

Yeah, standard lights are real crap. Best I can manage on unlit 'private' motorway is 140mph, but that's with no hands on the steearing! They're held in front of my in a sort of praying position!

The reason I asked about the HIDs, is I live in Arizona and at nite it gets realy dark if there's no moon out. and the stock lights kinda suck, I went ahead and bought HID wanbee bulbs and put them in, There nicer have a color tint to them but not that much brighter- but it does look good. I just want brighter you know.

It's not about brighter (in this case), it's about having reflectors that send the light in the right directions. The standard ones are rubbish. Put brighter bulbs in them and they're still rubbish only slightly brighter. Replacement units are what is needed.

Isn't it possible to buy direct from Japan ?

Do we have any contacts ?

Yep and don't I know it! Wales is pretty similar, loads of country roads and not much street lighting. Which equates to total darkness when de moon is not out! LOL!

One night I had to drive back behind my Mrs. in her Range Rover with her showing me the way(makes a change! LOL!) coz I couldn't see anything in front of the car. ARSE!

So I am gonna seriously consider either an after market HID or shelling out for Nelson to convert me over to the 99+ era lights.

If you have functional factory fog lamps, put in better bulbs and take off the glare guard. If not, purchase aftermarket fog or driving lights.

CheerZ Phuong mate,

Will tinker when I get the car back, most people have used that solution I think. Sure AndyP has done that with his. JeffTT was telling me and me Bro before Billing that just taking the units out and giving the reflectors a good clean makes a world of difference.

But defo got to do something, mine are the worst ever!!!

Timbo,

When you come round my gaff you can compare my lights in the dark. They're not the best I've ever had, but they're OK.

Jolly good idea mate!

Hopefully defo next week sometime.
