hiya,

sorry i haven't been about too much lately, had plenty of other things to contend with lately.

good to see even more new members, including Dazz, a very valuable resource for the forum, believe me.

1) have caught up with most of the posts, and like the idea of a forum dedicated to posting latest prices paid for specific parts etc. idea posted by ManicTT on 3/9

as long as you can all police yourselves and just post the required info, then that sounds cool to me.

so the topic would be the part, and you post replies which are the prices and supplier ?

2) also, have thought again about having a specific technical questions forum.

i enjoy all the chatty posts and stuff like that, but it gets very easy to miss technical feedback and problems that are posted.

it will also be a good way of gleaning some very specific information from the more knowledgable among us, and i can try and FAQ some of the posts as a link from the menu (something i have meant to do for ages now, but never get around too.. frown.gif

so, just give me a bit of feedback, and i'll do it (or i might just do it anyway and see what the fallout is wink.gif

Imho you can overdo it with the forums. I think the Supra forum is a prime example (No offence supra watchdogs) when your posts are spread over several forums it can be a bit of a pain. Personally I read all posts on the general forum but hardly ever think to look at the others. An indepth FAQ and insurance quotes link are great ideas but we should still post all our news on the general.

Paul

I concurr, some forums that I've been on are regimented! Let's not go that way, what we have now is great. I agree that there is alot of crap which I hold myself responsible for, but on the other hand I do keep a close eye on the gen. posts as it all means alot!

Upto you Craigy boy, you are the 300zx.co.uk ruler and Sensai, but I like things the way they are...IMHO...before anyone gets offended!

Quite like whats been done on your 200sx forum, subjects of Road Kills, Technical and Was It You? I found interesting and useful.

Personally IMHO I like the way the forums are at the mo and have to agree with paulg & Timmy_Turbo.

I think though a FAQ section would be an excellent idea where the most asked questions could be answered (state the obvious martin smile.gif), perhaps this could be dynamic so users could add there own?

Martin

Originally I thought having many individual topics for discussion would be better. But decided thats just the Programming side of my brain thinking.

In actual fact it's real nice to be able to see all the posts in one topic! (A scroll bar is a much nicer tool than the back button smile.gif)

I very much like the idea of a FAQ. The ttnet Tech is very good, but it doesnt say where to buy tools and parts from.

And, since I'm in the process of rebuilding most parts of my TTZ, I've gained a lot of knowledge myself, and would like to share it in what way I can. Currently, this is just a s*it load of digital pics.

The idea of an area where we could state insurance details was also a good idea that somebody posted a while ago. Craig: does your ISP let you run your own CGI-scripts? (Like this forum?). I'm pretty o-fay with Perl, so could write a nifty interactive Insurance database!

How about a few more amusing smilies for the topic icon:

Cheers

Simon.

I think we should have a seperate forum for people discussing lightbulbs, towbars and anything to do with software!!!!

Simon

yes the generic forum is good..., but some time it takes time to browse through many old posts to check out for example how much people has paid for something.....

I see the separate Forum about part-prices and insurances' quotes of great service to all and specially new people. This will quickly help Z-owners (old an new) to get the best deals every time! smile.gif

And it would automatically be kept up to date as people buy new stuff... defenetly a very useful service to ourself...

well just my opinion...I know I would gain from it

laTer

I'd certainly like a forum for parts prices and insurance quotes.

Can we have a Sin-Bin forum for naughty boyZ like what me and the Mat Lad can sometimes be?

I like Craig's idea but this is a democracy so perhaps a compromise ...

I believe that if everyone stuck with two principles then it would remove a number of the problems which some (including myself) have found separating techy from chit-chat :

1) If it's chit chat then make sure the thread title starts with NZR (non Z related) - this is what twinturbo.net used to do (and may still do)

2) If it's a techy thread then we should all try to retain self control and leave it that way. There are many examples of a question from someone which ends up as chit chat and then 20 posts down there is the answer but the individual has probably given looking for it.

My final suggestion would that when someone doesn't "comply", a quick reminder is EMAILED to them politely. Don't lets exacerbate the problem by filling the thread up with "Oy, Stay Z related you big tosser and by the way your spoiler is too big, your turbos are too small and you regularly sleep with farmyard animals !"

Just my thoughts ...

Dave

NZR : OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH Are we to busy to read the forum, then maby you should read the plastic Typically Very Rustic car forum lol

(now thats chit chat he he no offence dave)

No offence taken Warren.

Oh, by the way, something you might be interested in ...

There's a group buy on the metro forum for a dash mounted fruit & vegetable rack in case you can't fit all your groceries in the boot.

See ya !

WHERE WHERE WHERE, I have just put a super dragger on my metro yesterday. lol

Dave any news on the karting thing?

Ah yes, the karting thing ... hmmm ... bit of a failing here ...

Haven't actually got round to doing anything. Working 12 hours a day at the moment so struggling a bit with time.

If anyone fancies taking on the organisation then that would be most welcome ! If not, I'll look further as soon as poss.

Dave

Dave mate,

Sent you some mail about Navan Shifters but if you aren't at home maybe you can answer on here seeing as it is to do with the Z???

Where did you get yours from and how much did you pay?

I've been onto Phuong at GR to see if he could get a better deal from Stillen but Stillen won't sell to him at wholesale. Stillen want 399 USD for one! How much???

Just wondering if you could thrown more light on suppliers etc.
