feck, the alternator/water pump belt is too small :(

ok (talking to myself here!!) problem solved, for those that have bought this kit i have bought a new belt:

Gates part no 48366 4pk1013

running it up in the W/S now - time for road test in a min!! :)

What, the group buy kit has the wrong belt with it?

Please confirm!!!

yeah, the belt for the alternator & water pump it too short on my car (985mm supplied) i got the belt above from my local factors (1013mm long) which fits fine.

bit of a panic as my car was stripped down in bits & i thought they would all be shut

the other 2 belts were fine

dont know if it was supplied wrong or theres something different on the lengths for US/UK cars (wouldnt have thought so??)

anyway - job done now. im back home :D (a little bit quicker than i would have been before too!!)

does feel a lot quicker now - well impressed (apart from the belt!!)

there is a dirrenance in the belts for US and UK/JAP.

Don't worry guys will sort new belt for each of yer on monday and many thanks Paul for letting me know.

cheers

smithy

Thanks Paul & Smithy for your hard work, looking forward to fitting mine.

How long did it take Paul? Minus the trip to get replacement belt of course ;)

I can then double that time for me

I would say without all the faffing about with the belt, about 2hrs.

you could prob do it in less by leaving the rad in. i took it out cos it gives you that little bit more room to work & my air gun fitted straight on the pulley bolt with it out of the way!! :D

one other thing i would mention is the pulley is very tight on the crank, especially as its ally. i run a fine file around the inside to ensure there was no high spots then warmed it up with an electric hot air gun to expand it a little. bit of copper slip & on it went :)

BTW, the new pulley weighs in at just over 1kg, the old one is 6kg!!

Sounds like you know what you're doing Paul, I'm gonna print this out for the mechanic that's doing mine!!!

Thanks for the review too, can't wait to get mine done now
