My 300ZX is currently on my drive.

I could make room for it in my garage but I'd have to throw load of stuff out and put my motorbike outside. It'd be a tight fit too.

Is it worth garaging my 300? Does anyone else leave theirs outside? Does it cause any problems?

I leave mine in the driveway.........wont fit in the garage, I wish I had a bigger garage where i could work on the car as well.

John

Leave It Out Side Mate !!! It Gives You A Goog Excuse For Cleaning More Often. Its Also Comes In Handy When Eastenders/friends Etc Is On Tv," I Think I Can Hear My Alarm Going Off Darling , Better Go And Check , Just In Case". Well It Works For Me !!!!

i would love to put mine in the garage but if i do i cant get out the car as its to small. so mine sits in the drive way

Craig,

No problems at all leaving it outside, started up quick in those few below zero mornings. I live in a quiet neighbourhood, so I am not too worried about vandels.

Now, if only I could stop the t-top from leaking, but thats a whole new story.

John

I left mine outside for about 2 weeks whilst i was having a new floor laid in the garage when the snow was about (see rides), no probs at all other than i had to buy a 7 x 5ft shed to put all the shite out the garage in.

Rich ;)

My Zed is garaged - best place and it stays cleaner for longer.

Geoff.

I always garage mine, except when my brothers over, with the elise, the i let him put that in there.

BTW he's selling it so if anyones got £23,000 to spare and wants it give me a yell!!!!

Mines been an outside car for about 3 years, its doing ok. No rust or anything really, still pretty mint. I do feel a bit sorry for it though when it real nasty weather!

If it was achoice bteween garaging my zed or my bike (and it is) I garage my bike evrytime :)

Me to Jock, but my bike is slightly broken now.........

Z stays in the garage ! My bike is also in there though. However, if space were tighter then the bike would be indoors and the Z in the garage !

My Z has been off the road since before Xmas when the MOT ran out.

I keep it outside in my locked yard but also felt sorry for it when it gets a constant battering from our foul winters !, so i decided to buy a cover and ended up buying one from ARGOS for £20. It fits (just !) however its a continual battle stopping it from flapping about and then blowing off when its windy. I then decided to buy some nylon string to 'strap' it down and stop it flapping as it was this that was making me have to keep replacing the cover (annoying !). Then one particulaly windy morning the wind had managed to pull the cover from underneath the string and in the process had pulled the string that hard up the wing (string was layed over bonnet to stop this part flapping and tied to spokes of alloys) it has managed to scratch the wheel arches (pissed off) . So you just cant f***ing win ! ! !

Kept it dry inside though and helped keep rust at bay (UK car) when the cover managed to stay on that is !

Have to say this reminds me of something. Years ago was at a rally, supported and atended by a well known group of "motorcycle enthusiasts". Was talking to one of the guys about his bike ( Iam not a harley fan, but you could not help but admire the work that had been put into this machine, it was an original panhead model and had been totally rebuilt, it was stunning) I said to him that I was surprised he rode it and didny he worry about it being damaged or stolen. His reply was that he was never more than 10 feet from it, to the extent that he had patio doors fitted in his house so that the bike could be wheeled into his bedroom of an evening. I thought Mrs Jock was understanding :)

garage all the way!

Means I've had to buy two sheds to house all the crap that was in the garage but I know what I'd rather see when I open the garage door..

Zed.....

Or a pile of gardening crap.....

Toughie that one

Outside......in Scotland! Snow, ice, wee neds, you name it......no problems at all.

I have a garage full of kids toys and gardening junk so no room there.

Keep it well waxed with Auto Glym and wash once a week. Keep a wee eye on the Targa bolts on the top though, they're prone to rusting.

Other than that perfect!

There might be insurance benefits - ring your company and see if you can get your premiums down by garaging?

Covers from Argos... someone mentioned those to me, and I wondered if they'd fit our mega-track mega-wheelbase monsters properly... do they?

I think I need one because I live on an unadopted road and the truckies park their traction engines in the field at the end of it  (And who pays to maintain the gravel surface they are destroying? I'm gonna stick the next invoice for new shocks under their windscreen wiper! :xxx: )

When they drive past they cover my car in sh!te... I noticed the car was filthy the other day when I got into it, and then when I got out of it again I noticed the passenger side was still clean!

you will actually find some insurance companies charge more

when the car is garaged, as it is double hazard, fire in the garage cars gone, roof caves in cars gone, a cat' 1 alarm reduces insurance a LOT more than

where you park it ;)

Zevans,

Just go and buy a cover from argos and try it :) .

If it does'nt fit just take it back and they will give you a refund !

Dont buy one of those ones that are made out of that sh1tty silver thin polythene stuff , thier crap , I had one and after a few months of that hot sunshine in the spring/summer last year it fell to bits. You could literally pull bits off it where it had ripped like it was paper !

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

i do hope you're taking the p!ss!! never heard anything so funny in all my life!!

all my cars have always been garaged, which always gives me a discount on my insurance :)

fire in the garage or the roof caves in!! :slap: yeah, cos these things happen so often dont they!! much more than some little twat breaking into it/nicking it/damaging it eh?? :nono:

Now read the post again, SOME insurances if you think insurance companies won't do their best to wriggle out of a claim for whatever reason they can find, i suggest you give up driving cars and get a bike;)

so a wooden garage will stop a smackhead will it??

they don't go through roofs or panels??

once in a garage they are far safer to spend time doing whatever

than in an open street

as i said theres no hard and fast rules with insurances, if there was

most of us wouldnt be paying through the nose every time we renew

ive actually got a unit, where i park me jag all winter and believe me ive studied ALL the small print and the wormy clauses insurances use,

its great getting this insurance and that, the BIG test is the claim

btw at the moment i pay £440 a year for a fully comp' traders policy which covers me and the wife for any of our vehicles

ive known people claiming they have a garage or park their motors

in the drive, and when the claim assesor comes out, they want to see

the mythical garage, or the non-existent drive, and result, claim denied

as i said m8, read all the small print don't just think great im insured

as the insurance is a minefield;)

Billynomates,

Are you actually a trader, or just pretending to take advantage of saving thousands on insurance?? I've considered the same thing, but daren't risk the insurance not paying out, but presumably it's hard for the insuraqnce cdompany to prove you aren't a part time trader, isn't it??

Paul N

Those covers from argos are not up to much. they soon disintegrate outside or blow off. I used one of the more expensive du pont material ones over dec/jan while the zed was unused and even though the car was clean and the cover was soft on the inside there are fine scratches where the flapping with the wind has buffed the paintwork. Hopefully a waxing will get them away. The cover I got was the big size for a Lexus 400 sized car so it went right down to the ground all round on the zed and tucked under front and back with straps. Think it was about£35 from Halfords half price bin - ie should have been £60 ish.
