It could allso be a TPS problem,i read some where that it can effect change up if not set right  :)

does this mean a new tps?

will a gear box test show a fault or not?

the gearbox place say the gearbox is working fine

Spot on.

my old tps was shonked and it did make the auto box change up at very high revs. New tps, problem sorted.

Deffo worth a try

i tried a different tps today

it was a used one not brand new

but it still revs out

steve

did you set it up properly? It shows you in the online manual the voltages it should be reading at closed/wide open throttle, check these.

thanks mate ill look at that this weekend

ive printed it off it looks quite easy

Has anyone checked the oil level in the gear box???

If low can cause problems, plus might need changing.

its had a new gearbox

it did it from the day i picked it up

steve

Its not oil, its a control problem, ie, its being told to do what its doing. More than that I have not a clue. Others have added above on the same idea.

thanks for all your help guys

Just a thought, I was told the Jap and UK autos have different ECUs - is your new box the sam eas the old box?

TPS is the throttle position sensor, measures the angle of the throttle butterflies and sends out a voltage to the ECU/autobox ECU.

if its sending out correct vaulage does that mean its ok

or could it still be faulty intermediatly ?

thanks

steve

If you are sure the tps is ok try doing an auto diagnostic, chances are it will be the revolution sensor, seen it before causing that problem. bolts on outside of box so easy (ish) job

J3ff TT

hi jeff

you did an auto diagnostic for me last month

all was ok then

its been doing it ever since i had car

thats why i think the old gearbox blew up

does the tps position have to be spot on

thanks
