...after 13+ years of someone sitting in the drivers seat (Jap NA) it looks like the drivers side springs (front and back) are shorter than the passenger side springs - by about 5 mm. Question is, how difficult is it to change springs from left to right. Cars fine etc, no uneven tyre wear, just thought I'd get my money's worth from the springs...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks

...nice one. ...all I'm waiting for now is the suggestion to get a fat bird in the passenger seat - for a few years.

Just think yours might ave been owned by a famous sumo wrestler before!

Changing the springs is pretty easy with the right tools. But 5mm heck its nothing!

...so at 5mm you wouldn't bother? As I said tyre wear is even, it's just that when I look at the car, I can see it sat down on one side. And if it's easy, I might as well do it as I like ''fixing the car''. Is it simply the application of a spring clamp, and job's done? or is there something more complicated?

many thnaks

It could be down to slightly more compressed rubber end pads in the spring cups on one side - ie not the actual springs. For 5mm I would ignore it. I bet if I look at mine it wont be exactly level either. If I wanted to bodge it exactly right I might try jacking up the affected low side, compressing the springs on the car and slipping rubber shim under the spring seats to pad them slightly.

Taking them off the car is a lot more work - all the trim out of the rear etc

...as always - good thinking. Many Thanks. If I ever get round to doing it I'll let you know how I get on.
