Exhaust Backboxes

Is there a BIG difference between a cat back custom stainless system

or just having custom stainless back boxes fitted??

(besides price ;) )

Surely if it's cat-back, then you're only losing the pipe that

joins the back boxes to the cat by replacing just the b'boxes?

As long as the bore/diameter of the two pipes is the same, it

should be ok..........i think!

The pipes should be mandrel bent stainless steel. Whoever done mine used 3.5" stainless steel pipe which is way bigger than what comes out of the cats. This goes to the back where Apexi cans are welded on.

I would have thought that the bigger diameter pipes the better for free flow.

True for a TT (which I assume you have....) It has been shown that fitting pipes of a very large bore on non-turbo cars can actually reduce performance.

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

...and why do you want to keep the cats anyway? - My car can pass CAT emmissions test without them.

Look up Tube Torque in Macclesfield and have a chat with Mark - he knows eveything you could ever want to ask! - It's certainly worth the trip from Bolton

actually just read on ttnet that 2.75" is optimum size fot tt unless running big power as big pipe makes exhaust gases cool quicker and hence slower moving out of the system causing a reduction in power this probably only for down pipes though
