I had a web site giving me a little info on installing 6*9 speakers in the rear but i lost it and can't find it anywere. :( Ive had a look myself and tryed to figure out how such speakers can be fitted but to no sucsess. Does anyone know a web site that can help or any surgestions.

Not sure about the site mate. Would be very interested to read it too though! - I tried but with no luck. I think the original mounts take only 6x4. I ended up shoehorning a pair of 6" speakers in but I had to remove a lot of steel! Best bet is to take out the old ones and match them up to the best quality pair you can find in the same size.

There is a thread on here (of old) which went into this, it requires some plates making up and some welding, but at least one guy has done this with some success. Do a search for 6x9s on the forum....

I wouldnt bother with the hassle. Unless your well in2 ICE. I just bought a set of Infinity 6x4's and matching 17cm Infinity's for the front. Sounds good/loud enough.

if you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you.Was it alot??

Na, not too much. the 6x4's were about £65 and about the same sgain for the fronts. I put some of that dynamt stuff in aswell to stop vibration. Thats £15 for a pack of 2 mats. You'll need 2 packs. You can buy it from Halfords. Just cut it and stick it on. I thought it made a difference!

Yeah I had the matting fitted proffesionally to my doors and boot, certainly makes a big difference!

I would forget putting the speaker into the rears on the zed anyway just disconnect them and install speakers into the rear quarter panel.

Sound much better as thet face into the car and there's loads of room, you can easily get some nice 6" speaker there

Kirbz

I made up brackets for the 6x9's in the rear. Fitted fine.

However if you are thinking of adding subs I'm with Kirbz on this. I'll be getting rid of mine now and having componets up front and subs in the rear.

Squeezed 7X5s 3 way Kenwoods in the stock brackets at the rear - just re drilled the fixing holes and used thick rubber gasket to do a good seal. Next best thing to 6X9 and big mods

I fitted 6x9 in the rear of my Zed , I had to manufacture metal housings which I welded

in to position and sealed them, using the existing grills so you can't see em.

but still struggled to get any decent bass, and had to make a built in sub box in side of rear wheel arch. My advice would be put some mids in rear and buy a sub or make a sub box custom to fit .

Which Kenwood speakers did you use?
