After all the talk about Skyline rear lights, I decided to check out the options.

I was surprised that there seem to be a few configurations. I'm sure there's a Skyline expert out there who could shed a little light???

Would it be a good idea for someone from this forum to attend one of the GTROC pub/social meets and take a closer look? Hell! Why not all come along

Actually theres a monthly Jap car meet up here that a few of us go to from time to time and they have plenty of SKylines, as well as Mitsubishis and Toyotas - Next one is in March, so I'll be heading along with my tape measure and digital camera!

dont want to lower class of the 300 but you could try renault megan lights i think they abit smaller in diameter

LOL lower the class? some people fit Fiat lights

...and put huge silly spoilers and wide body kits on....

sorry Ian, but I just had to be first to say it!

what is that saying something about glass houses and stones ??

my point exactly! Russ

But Mac is actually the true champion of good taste (except that his car is still Red of course!)

John, you may be right about the diameter of the lights, but failed to point out that the smaller round lights don't include an indicator, this is the clear band below, so entirely unsuitable for fitting to a zed, unless you modify the round lights to include an indicator signal

Agreed where R33 lights are concerned. If you opt for the R32 lights the indicator is located between the two roundals

Fuggles, can you post a pic rather than a link - the link don't work, but I'm interested to see what you mean.

Thanks, that one worked, but aren't all the rears on this RED??

Doesn't that mean it's only street legal if it was imported like this - I thought that conversion to a US spec light was not allowed??

Emmmmm,I think it goes something like.................................

People who fit Fiat lights in a Z should not live in glass houses as people walking past will point their fingers and laugh at them? Better fit some nice big curtains or blinds:D;)

Nigel,

The stop/brake lights are red, the indicators (little square bit between the two roundals) are amber/orange

Not sure if the following is of interest, I received a copy of Demon Tweeks catalogue (issue DR4). On page 134, they sell a set of modular round lights, they have various inner lights with varying out rings, so you can mix and match, outer reflective, with inner stop lights, or reversing lights etc. They look pretty cool. Ive looked on the website but they dont seem to be listed. Thought they be of interest to you guys.

Barry.

Best thing to do is have a look at a set.

There is a Japanese car club meet at The Bubble Inn, Derby the last Sunday of the month, every month. I know there are a few Skylines that go and the organiser - Dave Wilkins - drives an R32.

Did you managed to get there?

Failing that there's a meet up here with a few Skylines, but not till a week on thurs!

I was following a nice tidy rear down the road - before the inevitable overtake and 'eat my dust' manouvre, leaving one of these in my wake.

But I wonder where thay got the lights for these!!!???? :hyper: :hyper:

Fuggles, thanks for the posts. these are well tempting , but I still don't know if they fit on a zed or if they are street legal.

SO doesn't anyone know where lotus get their lenses - and I thought you guys knew everything!!!

Wez, thanks again matey, but you're about the 5th person to post this (did you not read the thread above!!!!)

As yet, no-one has managed to answer if these are street legal in the UK as the lenses are red only, implying that there's a mod required to get an orange indicator light.

Can everyone stop posting Altezzas onto this thread now - please????

......As yet, no-one has managed to answer if these are street legal in the UK as the lenses are red only, implying that there's a mod required to get an orange indicator light.....

Nigel, I think the white lenses are the indicators (with orange bulbs fitted). This is a direct repalcement for stock unit, as the stock reverse lights are still left where they are.

The only legal issue I can see is where are the red reflectors....

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
