I've just spent an hour investigating a few mysteries on the new Z. (1990 import.) I'm hoping someone will recognise these mods...

It seemed unusually feisty... and this is why! (Offside picture.) Fair enough, I thought, I can whip those out easy enough...

They look adjustable, and indeed they are, you can turn the top piece. Does anyone recognise them?

There's no actuators or similar so why do I have this switch?

Now I really want to know what that switch switches, and so under the passenger footwell we go...

...and find the end of a harness from something aftermarket, but it's not spliced in. Anyone recognise the colours?

I also noticed the label looked a little odd and I had no big number on the bottom right...

Well, it's gotta be chipped on that evidence, so I took the ECU out the car and whipped it apart.

Anyone recognise that style of label?

I'm wondering if I have the JWT chip-and-jet kit... if anyone has that could you have a look and see if the bits look the same as mine?

Whilst I was down there, I've run a diag - code 34

Not too bothered about that until I've installed Smithy's fuel and air hoses though, which arrived this morning less than 24 hours after ordering - how's that for service? I've also got a fuel filter and a new temp sensor harness coming from the mandela.

It drives pretty well, but I have had det once - after an hour of hard driving, and I had to top the coolant up somewhat the next morning, so that -might- just have been temperature issues. My temp sensor is definitely dicky - more often that not I can't start the car warm and idle is all over the place.

Are there any air hoses I won't be able to get to without a ramp / taking bits out?

Finally it's possible the car's been round the forum a bit - anyone recognise it? Weird front with Bosch headlamp conversion.

Dunno the answer to any of your questions, but your front end looks nice! :) (ooooooer missus!)

them be bleed valves in the first pic not good way for upping power, be carefull. paint on the car looks a little different on rear quater. i would have the boost system ripped out and have a propper boost controler fitted and a jwt chip fitted to be safe.

the bleed screw look a standard unit fitted on turbo cars, which is adjusted according to how much boost you want.(instead of using boost jets or controller)

Richard

sorry I forgot to mention standard modification not manufacturers adjuster.

Richard

Yes, I had a similar set up which I took out !

That not Andy Z's car? I might be wrong, but im sure he had it for sale on Ebay not so long ago.

Hi Zevans

That front end looks good - very few like that! .

I'd say it may have been based on a Porsche 928? - those lights are straight off the 928 series 4+ cars ;)

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So far...

Yes it's AndyZ's car, or was, I meant history before that! (I think I'm right in saying he hardly drove it)

I like the front and I have heard Porsche mentioned before. The lights are bloody great too, not just for show.

The silver paint seems to play hell with photos, so ignore that... it matches the paint code on the VIN.

Boost/bleed jets are coming out and red silicone hose going in! I'm just curious - as a couple of people have said it looks like a standard kit I'm interested in finding out.

But I'm particularly keen to see if anyone recognises the harness which is now empty!
