ZX Newbie needs advice on what to buy

I'm thinking of buying a 300ZX but I've realised that I don't know very much about what to look for! I know that the standard engine is 3 litre but are they also V6 as standard? What's the book BHP before any mods? etc. etc.

I've got about £6000 to spend so I realise it would be around a 90 to 94 plate; what do I need to look for to find a good one?

Any help or advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Just go to the for sale section on this site, there are some really mint motors going for crazy prices...

for 6k you'll get a v.nice motor from what ive seen...

I just wish I didnt have to wait a couple of months for my funds to come through!

Reverse switch problem

Me again.
Reverse lights don’t work. Checked the bulbs and the fuse by the drivers pedal, all seem fine.
So I assume it’s the reverse switch. I’ve bought a spare and tried to swap it today. What a pain that is! I failed.

So I have two questions:
Is this possible without dropping the gearbox?
I wanted to test it was definitely the switch before I went crazy getting it out, so unplugged the old one and plugged the new one in, put car in reverse and switched on ignition and then pressed the end of the switch in but it still didn’t turn the lights on. Does the switch work this way? That you can push the plunger end in and it should turn on?

Tyre size recommendations

Cheers all,
I did consider a 225/45/17 but thought that it might be too much chunk on the side wall. But so many more options!
Looking at the calculator, going from a 235/40 to a 225/45 is about 7.5mm more sidewall which isn’t much. Loads more choice too. Think I’ll go for that, thanks for the help

Tyre size recommendations

Use this site or similar to get the rolling circumference difference when you change wheel diameter and tyre profiles.
It will tell you how much the speedo will over or under read, and the difference in overall diameter to work out if they will rub anywhere.
