Search is your friend!! :D

And also the 'buyers guide' Clicky Clicky

Matty.

thanks Matty,ill look around

Main thing is.........I'd buy from someone off this forum........

You can search through their posts, you'll know all about the car you may be buying and most of all you will know it's been well looked after.

BTW - there are a few really good examples up for sale at the moment....

PeteShrimp (Pete)

Deano (Dean)

Lack300 (Tony)

If you have a spare £12.5k then I suggest you buy Tony's....it's sweet as a nut and wants for nothing, plus it's a certain show winner too!! :)

Both Deano and Pete's Z are in good condition and been well looked after.

Matty.

Ive given myself a budget of around 4 thousand for the car,so Tony is going to be dissapointed with my offer hahaha!Would i be safer to buy a non turbo for now?l owned an escort turbo(dare i mention that on here!)for a few years and i know they would be expensive to replace.thanks

Most that have brought an N/A have gone on to buy a TT, it's really upto you but I have owned an N/A and I know have a TT................

TT's are so much more fun and the insurance is the same for strange reason!!

You just need to be careful when buying, SH, reciepts for work/services, etc, etc....are a must and plus if you don't feel right about a car, walk away.........you will know when yo uhave found the one you are after!!

As I mentioned before, buying from the forum from a member/subscriber is always best...

Matty.

cheers, you are my new friend hahaha.

I'll say this much,it looks like i wont have any trouble getting advice and help when i do buy one.

Thanks mate  Wish I could keep her

They are lovely motors indeed, I will certainly have another in a few years :)

do you know of anybody in the Manchester area, who would be willing to take time out to look at one or two with me?Im quite happy to pay for their time, petrol etc

I'm sure there are a few zedders in Manchester - stick a new thread up. Dunno what their time cost is though hehe ;)

Yeah, buy from an enthusiast, someone who knows a bit about them.

You might pay a bit more, but it'll have been looked after properly.

Go for a uk spec TT manual if poss.

Take someone with you who knows a bit about them.

Should be able to get one with your budget, might take a while

to find it though!

Good luck....

thanks dean,

sent u an email

how much were these cars to buy when new?

am i going to be on first name terms with my local garage owner, seeing him on a regular basis if you know what i mean?(fuel/repairs)

sorry about this but are they likely to stop dead in the middle of a roundabout!

Justin (albertos)

Justin

Glad you found the forum before you bought a car - you can learn a lot from here. The zeds are fairly sturdy reliable beasts, but unless you're pretty handy (mechanically that is!) I wouldn't advise trying to run one on the cheap. They need care and attention and parts are not cheap - but look after it and it will be a good reliable everyday motor.

and you may have to travel to find a nice one, so take the advice about buying from the forum - it could save you loads of hassle and money!

Good Luck

thanks bob

Justin (albertos)

The turbo was approx £33k when new in 1990!!!!

Only the turbo was officially imported to the uk.

So £4k is a bit of a bargain, as long as it's been

serviced properly etc.....

Find a mechanic with some z knowledge &

stick with him/her!

They only stop ''dead'' on roundabouts if you

rear-end whoever is in front of you!

Albertos, I live down the road in Wigan.

If you want I can meet with you somewhere and I will take you out in my Z. But I must warn you that my Z is not in the best of condition at the moment and it is about to have some major work done to it so time is limited.

Email me if you want.

Stuart

Oh Stu, you never offered to take me out on a date!

:slap:

Actually Justin, you should get yourself over to the NW meet on the 29th Feb, check out the events section. There should be plenty of us willing to talk you to death on the subject of zed ownership.

I was only a young whipper snapper then. ;)

Several months have passed since then ;)

or you could come to the jap uk meet at mascrat manor nr warrington second monday of every month
